The Oceana County Department of Veteran's Affairs annual 5K run happens on the second Saturday of November. The race start/end is at the new renovated Getty Park in Downtown Shelby and follows the Hart-Montague Trail north before looping back south on Industrial Dr.

The Vet Day 5K is the primary fundraising event for the OCDVA and 100% of the proceeds support transporting Oceana County veterans to medical appointments.
