Welcome to the WELCOME HOME PLANTS INC 5K WALK/RUN event!
Get ready to have some fun and join us on Saturday, June 8th, at 8:00 AM in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, USA. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to spend time together, this event is perfect for the whole family.
At WELCOME HOME PLANTS INC, we're all about bringing nature, community, and well-being to families in supportive housing. This 5K Walk/Run is not just about fitness; it's about showing our love for plants and our community.
We invite everyone to get creative and _WEAR PLANTS AND FLOWERS_ during the event. Wear flower crowns, leafy necklaces, or even decorate strollers with plants and flowers! Wear floral headbands, corsages or boutonnieres or attach small potted plants to race belts. Let's make this event a colorful celebration for all ages!

FOLLOWING THE WALK/RUN AT 11AM WILL BE AN AWARD CEREMONY CELEBRATING THE TOP 3 WINNERS OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
* AGE GROUP AWARDS: We will recognize top performers in various age groups. This allows participants to compete and be celebrated based on their age category rather than gender. The age groups for the race are as follows: _UNDER 12, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, AND 70 AND ABOVE_.
* BEST COSTUME OR OUTFIT AWARD: Celebrate creativity and self-expression by recognizing participants with the most innovative, fun, or unique costumes or outfits. The more plants and flowers you wear, the better your chances. _To be considered for this award participants must sign up day of race to be photographed before the start of the race._
* COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AWARD: Celebrate the participant who actively engages with the community, volunteers, and fundraises for the event's cause. _In order to be considered for this Award participants must fundraise for this cause via RunSignUp._

Check-In: Check-in starts at 7:30 AM, where participants can pick up their race packets, plants, and flowers. Group Warm-Up: Join us for a group warm-up at 8:45 AM to get those muscles ready for the fun ahead! The first wave of runners will start at 9:00 AM, followed by the second wave at 9:10 AM, the next wave at 9:20 AM, and the final wave at 9:30 AM. Race Route: The race will start on Broadway/Kent and make its way to Bushwick Inlet Park, up and over into Greenpoint, with a scenic lap in McCarren Park before finishing on Berry St open street. Activations at Start Line: At the start line, we'll have an electrifying DJ spinning tunes to keep the energy high as you prepare to embark on your 5K journey! Costume Contest: Don't forget to dress up in your most creative plant-themed costumes for a chance to win prizes in our costume contest! Whether you're a blooming flower, a majestic tree, or a quirky succulent, show off your green spirit and join the fun! Vendor Village and After-Party: After the race, be sure to visit our Vendor Village along Berry Street open street for refreshments, rewards, and goodie bags. The race route will be closed no later than 11:00 AM. Same-day registration will be allowed while supplies last. Raffles: Don't forget to buy raffle tickets to win prizes from our amazing sponsors! Come out and enjoy a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk through the streets of Brooklyn while supporting a great cause.
