Join us for the inaugural Writers in Residences Juvenile Justice 5K and 1-Mile Walk on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at the picturesque North Chagrin Reservation in Willoughby, Ohio! This uplifting event not only encourages fitness but also supports a worthy cause: providing second chances for justice-involved youth through creative writing and mentorship. The race kicks off with registration and packet pick-up at 9:00 AM, followed by the 5K at 10:00 AM and the 1-Mile Walk shortly after. Participants can choose to run the chip-timed 5K or stroll in the non-chip-timed 1-Mile Walk, making it accessible for everyone.
With registration fees starting at just $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-Mile Walk, there's no better way to make a difference while enjoying the great outdoors. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, after-race refreshments, and a special chapbook, along with the chance to win awards in various age categories. Do you believe in second chances? We do! April is recognized as Second Chance Month for juveniles incarcerated in the justice system. You can help Writers in Residence give our youth another chance and transform the lives of justice-involved youth through creative writing and mentorship by participating in its inaugural Juvenile Justice 5K (and 1-mile Walk). That's right, you don't need to break a sweat to support a great cause!
