Join us for an inspiring day of community and support at the Writers in Residence Juvenile Justice 5K and 1-Mile Walk on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, in beautiful Willoughby, Lake. This uplifting event takes place at the North Chagrin Reservation's Forest Picnic Area and celebrates Second Chance Month, dedicated to supporting justice-involved youth. Whether you're a seasoned runner or prefer a leisurely stroll, you can make a difference by participating in the 5K chip-timed race or the non-chip-timed 1-Mile Walk.
Starting at 10:00 AM, this event not only encourages fitness and fun but also raises funds for creative writing and mentorship programs aimed at transforming the lives of young individuals in the justice system. Registration opens at 9:00 AM, with early bird fees available until March 8th. Participants will receive a T-shirt, refreshments post-race, and a special Chapbook. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners. Come run, walk, or cheer, and help give our youth the second chance they deserve!

Do you believe in second chances? We do! April is recognized as Second Chance Month for juveniles incarcerated in the justice system. You can help Writers in Residence give our youth another chance and transform the lives of justice-involved youth through creative writing and mentorship by participating in its Juvenile Justice 5K and 1-mile Walk. That's right, you don't need to break a sweat to support a great cause! Whether you run, walk, or cheer along the course, your participation creates real change.
