Organiser's Description
Every continent except Antarctica has a continental divide. In North America the divide runs from northwestern Canada along the crest of the Rocky Mountains to Mexicos Sierra Madre Occidental, and it is generally the line that divides the flow of water between the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean.
In 1968 a federal plan for the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT) was mandated, and today, construction of the CDT is estimated to be 85% complete.
Fourteen Butte-iful kilometers along the CDT between Montanas Homestake and Pipestone passes in Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest are complete. They provide scenic vistas with majestic rock formations. This race along that route celebrates the trail and the memory of one of its greatest local proponents -- the late John the Wulfman Wulf, who was the Godfather of Buttes Piss Moan Runners. The race is run near the Summer Solstice, the anniversary of the Wulfmans final run with his Piss and Moan comrades.
Race proceeds are donated to help build, maintain, and improve trails in southwest Montana and to support local youth runners. As of 12/31/2022 we have contributed $12,644 for trail related projects, $2150 for local emergency, search, and rescue, and $7050 for youth running programs.
We Piss Moan Runners promise our best in creating a race experience that is challenging, memorable, and fun for runners of all ages and abilities!!
