Join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026, for the heartwarming Young Hearts 4 Heroes event in Alexandria, Douglas! This annual gathering at Alexandria City Park honors the sacrifices made by our military families, while also inspiring the younger generation to appreciate the true cost of freedom. Participants can choose to march one mile in a soldier's boots or take on the challenge of a 5K run, with both events designed to foster understanding and gratitude for our veterans.
The festivities kick off with registration from 8:30 to 9 AM, followed by a warm welcome at 9 AM. The 5K race begins at 9:15 AM, with timing provided by Pickle Events, and the one-mile march starts at 10 AM. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in both the 18+ and 12-18 age categories, while children under 10 can participate in the walk for free! Don’t miss this opportunity to support the Sacred Journey Academy and the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, as all funds raised will go towards their mission to teach tomorrow's leaders to honor today's veterans. Come together for a day of celebration, remembrance, and community spirit!

In an age where freedom is enjoyed, it is imperative that the next generation grow up learning about and understanding the _true cost_ of how it came to be and the importance of using it to live intentionally.
SACRED JOURNEY ACADEMY is excited to host our second annual YOUNG HEARTS FOR HEROES event on July 18, 2026!
Multiple generations will gather at Alexandria City Park to honor a local military family, thank veterans for their service, and remind youth why freedom matters. YOUNG HEARTS FOR HEROES is an effort to bridge the gap in understanding regarding the ongoing sacrifice of our soldiers and their families. Participants will have the opportunity to march one mile in a soldiers boots or run a 5K to honor our veterans. Funds raised will go to the support of SJA and the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Both organizations are passionate about TEACHING TOMORROWS LEADERS TO HONOR TODAYS VETERANS.
