This is not a timed race but a celebration of community, with prizes awarded for the greatest distances traveled. Plus, teams that raise funds ahead of the event will receive bonus mileage based on their donations. Virtual participants can also join in on the fun by registering online. The 1000 MILE BIKEWALK FOR PREVENTION to be held October 31, 2026, Halloween morning. THIS IS A NEW DATE.
The"_Spooktacular_"1000 Miler is a regional fun ride/walk/run for kids, teens, adults... the whole family... to enjoy a fun and healthy morning while helping a good cause. Not a timed race, the 1000 Miler will record the distances traveled by every runner and rider to reach the cumulative event goal of 1000 miles.
Costumes and bike decorations are highly encouraged. Teams, too.
Separate long and short biking and walking circuits of 15 and 5 miles and 1 mile, respectively, over semi-closed roadways, plus a1/2 mile sidewalk-only Jr. BikeWaker route for kids. grandparents, etc.. Prizes will be awarded in each of several classifications for the greatest distance travelled during the several hour event. Teams that fund raise independently will be awarded bonus mileage based on their donations to the event on or before event day. Registered virtual BikeWalkers may sleep in and still partipate in the event by registering online.
BIKEWALK MORRISTOWN, TN the organization was founded to support those who like to bike, e-Bike, walk, run, etc. and want to share their active lifestyle with others. The 1000 MILE BIKEWALK FOR PREVENTION the event will raise funds for the Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition, because research has shown that when people, especially teens, immerse themselves in activities they truly enjoy, there is less tendency to turn to dangerous substances. That's why the Coalition is involved.

Biking Challenge & Fun Ride

Not a timed race, but distance traveled by each rider will be accumulated toward the event goal of 1000 miles. Limited to age 10 and up. Experienced riders are assumed to cover 2 or more circuits of the 15 mile route on the two hour event. All bike types with minimum 20" wheels OK. All riders must wear a helmet for the entire ride and be able to climb hills (elevation change 500') twice per circuit. -
Walking/Running Challenge & Fun Walk

Not a timed event, but distance travelled by each walker/runner will be accumulated toward the event goal of 1000 miles. It is assumed participants will want to cover a 5K equivalent (1 mile loop 3+ times) during the 2 hour event. Balance bikes, wheel chairs, wagons, inline skates, scooters and friendly furry friends on leash are permitted. Kids under 16 on bikes must wear helmets by law. -
Jr. BikeWalker Ghouls and Goblins Fun Walk/Ride

A 1/2 mile sidewalk circuit is ideal for kids of any age in costumes. Great for grandparents. Kids on bikes must wear helmets (by law). Small children must be accompanied by a responsible attendant. Everyone must register online or in person to be eligible for post event activities. -
