Organized by the Black Dog Road Race committee, this event offers a 5K, 10K, and Kids Fun Run, all inspired by the legendary Black Dog of the Hanging Hills. The 5K course takes runners along the scenic Merimere Reservoir, while the challenging 10K route includes a climb to Castle Craig with over 750 ft of elevation gain in the first 3.1 miles. The event aims to benefit local programs in the community, with entry fees starting as low as $10 for the 5K and $15 for the 10K. _The Legend of the Hanging Hills Black Dog has been around for over 100 years. __A mysterious black dog that has been spotted countless times and is said to bring good luck, bad luck, and even death! The Black Dog awaits_____
JOIN US THIS HALLOWEEN WEEKEND AT HUBBARD PARK IN MERIDEN, CT FOR THE RETURN OF THE BLACK DOG ROAD RACE!
5K: An out and back course that runs along the beautiful Merimere Reservoir. It has some rolling hills throughout the course!
10K: ONE OF THE MOST CHALLENGING 10K'S IN CONNECTICUT! 6.2 miles, out and back from Hubbard Park to Castle Craig! Over 750 ft of elevation in the first 3.1 miles!
FREE KIDS FUN RUN: Kids will run, jog, and walk the small loop (road) around the playscape and main parking lot area. About 4/10ths of a mile in distance.
_RUNNING FOR A PURPOSE AND OUR COMMUNITY _
Every year, our race helps benefit local programs in our area. This years benefit will be announced soon!
