Join the excitement at the 2024 Willow Spring High School Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 28th, in Fuquay-Varina, Wake! This annual Thanksgiving Day tradition invites participants of all ages to "Storm the Spring Before You Gobble!" With a USATF-certified 5K course that starts and ends on the track, runners will enjoy a scenic route around the campus, through the Park-Depot Greenway Trail, and into the South Lakes neighborhood.
Families can also participate in the Kids Fun Run for ages 9 and under and the Diaper Dash for ages 4 and under, both taking place on the school track. While registration for the competitive and family 5K events is closed, on-site registration for the Kids Fun Run and Diaper Dash will be available until 9:00 AM. Participants in the competitive 5K can look forward to awards for both overall and age groups, while everyone will receive a medal for their efforts. Don't miss the chance to dress up for the costume contest during the Fun Family 5K, where you can win a trophy and share your creative looks on social media! STORM THE SPRING BEFORE YOU GOBBLE!!
Established in 2022, Willow Spring High School is BACK with its Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5k Run!
The USATF-certified 5K course will start and end on the track and include a loop that will take you around campus, down the Park-Depot Greenway Trail, and into the South Lakes neighborhood before your return. The Kids Fun Run (9 and under), and Diaper Dash (4 and under) will all occur on the school track.
ALL REGISTRATION FOR THE COMPETITIVE 5K AND THE FAMILY FUN 5K IS CLOSED. WE WILL ONLY BE DOING ON-SITE REGISTRATION FOR THE KIDS FUN RUN (9 AND UNDER) AND DIAPER DASH (4 AND UNDER), REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 9:00 FOR THE KIDS RUN AND DIAPER DASH.
We will again offer the competitive 5K for those faster runners who can finish within 30 minutes and want to run with less congestion on the course. In the competitive 5K there will be overall awards and age group awards. Awards will be given following the competitive 5K. For an added bonus, the course record holder always gets a free entry!
The Fun Family 5K includes walkers, runners, and strollers (no pets). In the Fun Family 5K, we will have a costume contest that will be judged during the race on Social Media. So come out in your funniest Thanksgiving costume, get your picture taken and have a chance to win the Trophy!
All participants will receive a MEDAL at the end of their race. Participants who run the Competitive 5k or the Fun Family 5K who sign up before October 25th will also receive a t-shirt. If you register after October 25th, t-shirts are not guaranteed.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ANY AND EVERYONE!!
PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE SCHOOLS' CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS, TRACK TEAMS AND SPORTS BOOSTERS. THIS IS GOING TO BE A FUN EVENT THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS.
