Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the 2024 Willow Spring High School Turkey Trot, taking place on Thursday, November 28th, in the vibrant town of Fuquay-Varina, Wake. This annual Thanksgiving Day tradition invites runners of all ages to join in an exciting 5K run on a USATF-certified course that starts and ends on the school track. Participants will enjoy a scenic loop around the campus, traverse the Park-Depot Greenway Trail, and explore the charming South Lakes neighborhood.
In addition to the competitive 5K, which offers awards for overall and age group winners, the event will feature a Kids Fun Run for those 9 and under and a Diaper Dash for the youngest participants, aged 4 and under. Don’t forget to dress up in your funniest Thanksgiving costume for a chance to win a trophy during the costume contest! With early bird pricing available until September 27th and medals for all finishers, this is a fantastic way to kick off your Thanksgiving festivities while supporting the school's cross country and track teams. STORM THE SPRING BEFORE YOU GOBBLE!!
Established in 2022, Willow Spring High School is BACK with its Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5k Run!
The USATF-certified 5K course will start and end on the track and include a loop that will take you around campus, down the Park-Depot Greenway Trail, and into the South Lakes neighborhood before your return. The Kids Fun Run (9 and under), and Diaper Dash (4 and under) will all occur on the school track.
We will again offer the competitive 5K for those faster runners who can finish within 30 minutes and want to run with less congestion on the course. In the competitive 5K there will be overall awards and age group awards. Awards will be given following the competitive 5K. For an added bonus, the course record holder always gets a free entry!
The Fun Family 5K includes walkers, runners, and strollers (no pets). In the Fun Family 5K, we will have a costume contest that will be judged during the race on Social Media. So come out in your funniest Thanksgiving costume, get your picture taken and have a chance to win the Trophy!
Early Bird Pricing until September 27th, then price increases to $35 for the 5K and $15 for the kids runs.
All participants will receive a MEDAL at the end of their race. Participants who run the Competitive 5k or the Fun Family 5K who sign up before October 25th will also receive a t-shirt. If you register after October 25th, t-shirts are not guaranteed.
