Event summary
Join us for the uplifting 2025 DIII Inlet Walk for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in beautiful Sea Isle City, Cape May! This heartwarming event kicks off at 8:30 AM, inviting participants to walk approximately 10 miles from Townsends Inlet to Hereford Inlet. The walk is a cherished end-of-summer tradition, and this year, we honor Dennis J. McNichol, III, affectionately known as DIII, who was a dedicated athlete and a beacon of support for his family and friends.
Gather with family and friends to celebrate DIII's legacy while raising funds for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. Your participation will contribute directly to vital research focused on pediatric brain tumors, enabling the development of innovative therapies for the youngest patients battling this disease. Whether you join us for the entire trek, a portion of the walk, or simply for the 11:30 AM post-walk social at the Windrift, your presence will help us toast, reminisce, and create lasting memories in honor of DIII. Everyone is welcome to participate in this meaningful event, so come out, support a great cause, and make a difference!

Organiser's Description
SATURDAY AUGUST 30, 2025; 8:30 AM WALK START TIME
Several years ago Bridget started walking from Townsends Inlet to Hereford Inlet ( approx 10 miles) as an end of summer tradition. Through the years, other family members and good friends joined the walk. Every year our Dad was at the finish line quietly cheering us on - plus he was our ride home!
We will do our annual trek again this yearthis time in honor of our Dad, Dennis J. McNichol,III [https://www.donohuefuneralhome.com/obituaries/dennis-mcnichol-iii] aka DIII. Our Dad was a lifetime athlete who loved exercise and the camaraderie it brought with it. We invite our many friends and family to join us this year as we celebrate DIII and raise funds for Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute.
All funds raised will directly benefit the Resnick and Storm laboratory at CHOP [https://www.research.chop.edu/resnick-and-storm-laboratory]. Research in the lab is dedicated to pediatric brain tumors and the context of their developmental biology. The lab is committed to developing novel targeted therapies for the youngest of patients affected by brain cancer. Dr. Jay Storm [https://www.chop.edu/doctors/storm-phillip-b](Chief of Neurosurgery at CHOP and an Archmere friend) served as an instrumental resource and friend to our family during our Dads own brain cancer diagnosis. Sadly, our Dad passed away two months after the discovery of his own glioblastoma this winter.
ALL PARTICIPATION IS WELCOME! JOIN US FOR THE ENTIRE TREK, PART OF THE WALK, OR FOR THE 11:30 AM POST-WALK SOCIAL AT THE WINDRIFT [https://www.icona.com/windrift/dining/]WHERE WE WILL GATHER IN CELEBRATION OF DIII, TOAST, REMINISCE, LAUGH, AND LIKELY CRY...
With love and gratitude,
the McNichol Family
