Join us for the vibrant 2026 Sunflower Elementary Community Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, in beautiful Lawrence, Douglas! This exciting non-competitive event is designed to unite the Sunflower Elementary and Lawrence community while promoting health, wellness, and connection. Starting at Sunflower Elementary School, participants can choose to run or walk from one to three loops around a scenic course that includes both grassy areas and paved sidewalks.
The Fun Run/Walk kicks off at 9:30 AM, following the delightful Tot Trot and Dad Dash earlier in the morning. Everyone is encouraged to gather at the starting line near the Gaga Ball Pit, with the finish line located on the Southwest Middle School Track. All participants will receive a t-shirt included in their entry fee, with early pick-up available from 7:30 to 8:45 AM on race day while supplies last. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to get active and make lasting memories with friends and family in the heart of the community!

Organiser's Description
The purpose of this non-competitive race is to bring the Sunflower Elementary [https://www.usd497.org/sunflower] and Lawrence community together to support health, wellness, and connection. The race start will take place at Sunflower Elementary School in the beautiful Lawrence, KS, and consist of a loop circling [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wEJH4X_kiZLBm--QczRlnaYbw36qtOuv/view?usp=drivesdk] the Sunflower and Southwest Middle School [https://www.usd497.org/southwest] property that is partially off-road on grass and partially on paved sidewalk. Participants can run/walk from one to three loops based on preference, and volunteers will be present to help with route directing. The finish line of the race is on the Southwest Middle School Track. A t-shirt is included in the entry fee, and t-shirts can be picked up at Sunflower the morning of the race from 7:30 to 8:45 am. Payment can also be made in person via check, cash, or PayPal the morning of the race with a t-shirt included while supplies last.__

OPENS 28 NOVThis run/walk course is a one-mile loop around the Sunflower and Southwest school properties. As a participant, you can walk/run 1 loop, 2 loops, or 3 loops (each loop is a mile). The finish line will be on the Southwest Track. *The official Sunflower Fun Run/Walk will start following the Tot Trot. Please plan to come cheer on our little Eagles before participating! They'll love it! -

OPENS 28 NOVWhat is a "Tot Trot," you ask?! It's a pre-race mini-run for kiddos ages 4 or 5 and under (i.e., not yet kindergarten age). These kiddos will have the opportunity to run one lap of the Southwest Middle School track at 9am before the start of the official Sunflower Fun Run. Race day t-shirts ARE INCLUDED in this entry. -
