With elevation ranging from 7,000 to 9,000 feet, participants will enjoy rugged dirt roads and narrow, hilly single tracks that promise to challenge even the most seasoned runners.
This year, the lower trails are nearly free of snow and ice, making for a fantastic running experience. Runners can look forward to a light hot meal at the finish line, and all participants will receive custom race socks to commemorate their achievement. RUN THROUGH TIME UPDATES (3/1) - THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DRY WINTER, AND THE LOWER TRAILS OF THE MARATHON COURSE/ENTIRE HALF MARATHON COURSE ARE DRY AND ALMOST COMPLETELY FREE OF SNOW OR ICE. THERE IS SOME SNOW/ICE/MUD ON THE UPPER MARATHON COURSE, BUT MUCH LESS THAN NORMAL. THE HALF MARATHON IS COMPLETELY FULL AND MARATHON RUNNERS MAY NOT MOVE DOWN IN DISTANCE BETWEEN NOW AND RACE DAY. THE DEADLINE TO DEFER ENTRIES TO NEXT YEAR HAS PASSED. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE IN SALIDA VERY SOON!
The 21st Annual Run Through Time Marathon, Half Marathon, and 2 Mile Run will take place on Saturday, March 14, in Salida, CO. These beautiful, challenging courses are run on dirt/jeep roads and narrow, hilly single track with fantastic views of Salida and the Arkansas Valley. Elevations range from 7000-9000 feet. Foot travel only. There is a 7 1/2 hour time limit for the marathon, and a 5 hour time limit for the half marathon. No crews or pacers on either course. Prizes will be awarded to the top three M/F in each race and top three F/M in each 10 year age group. A light hot meal will be available at the finish for contestants. All registered runners will receive custom race socks. There is a 500 person combined limit for the half marathon and full marathon (split mostly evenly between the two events).
Race takes place on the Arkansas Hills Trail System, BLM and Forest Service land, and Chaffee County and City of Salida roads and property. Donations from proceeds from this event will be made to Salida Mountain Trails and Chaffee County Search and Rescue-South (over the last 8 years alone, over $40,000 from race proceeds has been donated). We greatly appreciate their support of this event, and their contributions to the Chaffee County community in general!
There will also be a 2 mile run (first 2 dirt road miles of the marathon and half marathon course), and a free kids 400 meter run, which will take place in Riverside Park. There is a 7 1/2 hour time cutoff for this event. The marathon course has approximately 4k feet of elevation gain/loss with a mixture of single track trails, and dirt and jeep roads. High point of the course is 9k feet, and low point is 7k feet. Custom race socks, a light post race meal, and awards are included with the entry fee. There is a 250 person participant limit. Please do not register for this event unless your intention is to race the marathon, and please understand that you may not be able to switch down to the half marathon if that event is already full when you register. -

The half marathon course has approximately 2k feet of elevation gain/loss and consists of a majority of single track trails, with the remainder on dirt and jeep roads. High point of the course is 7,850 feet, and low point is 7k feet. Custom race socks, a light post race meal, and awards are included with the entry fee. There is a 5 hour time cutoff and a 250 person participant limit for this event. -
A Run Through Time 2 Mile Run

The 2 mile run begins with the half marathon runners, completing the same 2 mile (majority) dirt road loop. Course begins and ends at the same location. Custom race socks are included in the race entry fee. There are no awards or post race food for the 2 mile run. There is no participant limit for this event, and no time limit either, although the intention of this event is as a run, not a walk.
