Lace up your sneakers and join us for our 4th Annual 5K and Fun Walk, supporting this years beneficiary, Neighborhood Emergency Aid Response (NEAR).

NEAR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2022 to provide rapid emergency assistance within the Amblebrook community. When a medical emergency occurs, every second matters. While Amblebrook is served by the regional 911 systemincluding Adams Regional Emergency Medical Services (AREMS), the Gettysburg Fire Department, and the Pennsylvania State Policethe large coverage areas for these services can sometimes lead to longer response times. NEAR was created to help bridge that gap.

When you dial 911, NEAR is dispatched at the same time as the ambulance. As a Pennsylvania EMS-certified Quick Response Service (QRS), NEAR volunteers are often able to arrive quickly to provide critical care until professional emergency responders arrive.

NEAR works closely with AREMS and is certified through the Emergency Health Services Federation of Pennsylvania. Each response team includes highly trained volunteers skilled in basic life support, CPR/AED, and first aid, with at least one team member certified as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), EMT, or Paramedic. These teams provide immediate, potentially life-saving interventions while awaiting ambulance crews.

In addition to emergency response, NEAR strengthens the community by offering CPR, AED, and first-aid training for Amblebrook residents.

Proceeds and donations from this years race support NEARs mission and contribute to a designated endowment that helps sustain the organization for years to come, ensuring that rapid emergency care is available when our community needs it most.
