This vibrant event is a celebration of resilience and recovery, featuring a 5K Fun Run and a 1.25-mile Recovery Awareness Walk. As part of the Shawano Menominee Resiliency Coalition's ongoing efforts, this year's event aims to raise vital funds to expand and sustain recovery resources in our community.
The day kicks off with registration and T-shirt pick-up starting at 8:30 AM, followed by a heartwarming welcome ceremony, guest speakers, and a moment of silence at 10:00 AM. Participants will then embark on the scenic 5K route through downtown Shawano, returning to Franklin Park for a day filled with family-friendly activities, live music, and a resource fair showcasing local recovery services. Enjoy delicious offerings from food trucks and let your spirit shine as we come together to support those on their journeys to recovery. Organiser's Description
Now in its 4th year, our annual Recovery Awareness Walk will be continuing our 5k Walk/Fun Run options! This event is spearheaded by the Shawano Menominee Resiliency Coalition to help bring awareness and support to those living in and working towards RECOVERY from addiction and mental health struggles in our local communities!
In the first two years, the Recovery Celebration & Awareness Walk was able to help raise funds to open the Shawano Recovery Center and the Greater Shawano area's first Women's Recovery Residence! In the third year, funds were utilized to open a new recovery center, Rise Wellness, which is in the development phases of hiring an executive director and offering additional activities and programming to our local communities.
This year, FUNDS RAISED AT OUR EVENT WILL CONTINUE TO EXPAND AND SUSTAIN RECOVERY RESOURCES IN OUR LOCAL AREA.
