Join us for the 6th Annual Forging Families 5K/10K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the charming town of Columbiana, Shelby! This heartwarming event supports Sacred Selections, a remarkable non-profit organization dedicated to helping families in their journey to adopt a child. With the goal of easing the financial burden on adoptive families, all proceeds from this race will be directly donated to Sacred Selections.
Participants can look forward to USATF Certified courses featuring both a 10K and 5K distance, along with a fun and family-friendly 1 Mile Fun Run. The fast and flat courses promise a fantastic opportunity to set personal records while enjoying the scenic surroundings. Race day registration and packet pick-up will kick off at 7:00 AM at the brand-new Shelby County Arts Council, where participants can also explore local businesses, unique shops, and the inviting atmosphere of small-town USA. This event supports Sacred Selections, a not-for-profit organization that assists families in their quest to adopt a child. It's a pretty amazing organization. They operate with a volunteer board and minimal administrative costs.
All proceeds from this race will be donated to Sacred Selections to reduce the financial burden on a family willing to give a child a home. Funds will be sent directly to Sacred Selections to assist families in process of adoption. In the last four years, we have donated more than $40,000 to this cause and our event has grown each year.
We are excited to offer USATF Certified 10K and 5K courses as well as a 1 Mile Fun Run!

The course (USATF #AL19060JE) is fast and flat and promises a great opportunity at your next PR! We will begin and end at the brand-new Shelby County Arts Council facility. The 10K course will basically be a double loop (USATF#AL21027JE). Although the course is an open course, the City of Columbiana is partnering with us and providing police to control the flow of traffic to ensure runners are safe.
When the race is done, stick around and check out this beautiful facility and enjoy Columbianas quaint Main Street, visit our local businesses for unique shopping and enjoy the warmth of small town USA!

The 10k course will be a modified double loop of the 5K course, which is a flat course with only two small hills on the entire course. The race runs you through beautiful downtown Columbiana and offers your fan sections several places to cheer you on within a very short walk. -

The 1 Mile Fun Run course begins in front of the old Court House and runs an out-and-back path along Main Street. The course is flat and provides plenty of room for your cheer section. Volunteers trail behind the last runner to ensure everyone's safety. -
