Join us on Saturday, May 23, 2026, for "A Walk to Remember our Fallen" in the beautiful town of Boalsburg, Centre. This heartfelt event, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Military Museum and A Soldier's Hands, invites participants to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. With a focus on remembrance and community, the event features a celebratory 5K walk around the museum grounds, allowing participants to connect with the stories of our nation's heroes.
The day will kick off at 9:00 AM with a Color Guard ceremony led by local Boy Scout Troops, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moving performance of the National Anthem. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Debra Burger, who will share her personal journey of loss and remembrance. Family activities, including writing "notes from home" and crafting poppy flowers, will enhance the experience for all ages. Join us as we come together to keep the memories of our fallen alive, and let’s make this Memorial Day a day of honor, reflection, and celebration!

A Soldiers Hands is a non-profit partner of Carry The Load (CTL). CTL provides active ways to honor and remember our nations heroes by connecting Americans to the importance of Memorial Day. Join us as we honor and acknowledge those who lost their lives while defending our country. Walk if able or bring a chair and listen. Together, let's share stories and say their names. Doing so keeps their memory alive. #Whoareyoucarrying

9 A.M. Color Guard: local boy scout troop 380 and sister troop 328, Pledge of Allegiance
9:05 A.M. Pastor Paul McReynolds, National Anthem + opening prayer
9:10 A.M. Welcome and acknowledge our Gold Star families and guests
9:15 A.M. Keynote speaker: Debra Burger, will share her experience as a 5th grader when her oldest brother went missing in 1968. He was shot down in a reconnaissance mission flying what was called an O2. Deb will also provide an update on their lifelong search for Lewis P Smith II remains.
9:30 A.M. Walk of celebration begins, 6 laps around the museum grounds = 5K.
9:30 A.M. Write a "note from home", create a poppy flower, sign our remembrance board
9:50-10:20 A.M. Nittany Knights Barbershop Chorus - beautifully sings Patriotic songs
10:30 A.M. TAPS performed by High Schooler Hannah Majewski, followed by 21 gun salute: Bellefonte VFW
9:00-10:30 A.M. Veteran organizations ready to offer guidance
