Join us for "A Walk to Remember our Fallen" on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the picturesque Boalsburg, Centre, as we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This heartfelt event, organized in partnership with A Soldier's Hands and Carry The Load, aims to connect participants with the true meaning of Memorial Day. The day kicks off with an inspiring program featuring a color guard, the moving sounds of the Nittany Highland Pipe Band, and a keynote address from Debra Burger, who shares her personal story of loss and remembrance.
Participants can enjoy a 5K walk around the beautiful grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum, where you can walk as much as you're able or simply relax and share stories with fellow attendees. The event also features family-friendly activities, including a chance to create remembrance buttons and enjoy delicious Duck Donuts, with 20% of sales going to A Soldier's Hands. Make sure to mark your calendars for this uplifting day of community, remembrance, and celebration as we come together to honor those who served.

Organiser's Description
A Soldiers Hands is a non-profit partner of Carry The Load (CTL). CTL provides active ways to honor and remember our nations heroes by connecting Americans to the importance of Memorial Day. Join us as we honor and acknowledge those who lost their lives while defending our country. Walk if able or bring a chair and listen. Together, let's share stories and say their names. Doing so keeps their memory alive. #Whoareyoucarrying.

9:10 A.M. Welcome and acknowledge our Gold Star families and guests
9:15 A.M. Carry The Load representative Riley Stapf shares our the partnership between CTL and ASH and the mission of CTL
9:20 A.M. Keynote speaker: Debra Burger, will share her experience as a 5th grader when her oldest brother went missing in 1968. He was shot down in a reconnaissance mission flying what was called an O2. Deb will also provide an update on their lifelong search for Lewis P Smith II remains.
9:35 A.M - 9:50 A.M. Nittany Knights Barbershop Chorus - beautifully sings Patriotic songs
9:50 A.M. Walk of celebration begins, 6 laps around the museum grounds = 5K. Walk what you can.
9:50 A.M. Write a "note from home", sign our remembrance board, create a button, get a patriotic tattoos , enjoy a donut and a cup of coffee
9:50 A.M. Our bagpipers rejoin us
10:30 A.M. TAPS performed by University of Delaware Sophomore Hannah Majewski, followed by 21 gun salute: Bellefonte VFW
9:35-10:30 A.M. Veteran organizations ready to offer guidance
