Join us for "A Walk to Remember our Fallen" on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the charming town of Boalsburg, Centre County. This heartfelt event, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Military Museum and A Soldier's Hands, invites participants to honor and remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Whether you choose to walk the 5K route around the picturesque museum grounds or bring a chair to listen and reflect, your presence will help keep their memories alive.

The day begins at 9 A.M. with a Color Guard ceremony featuring local Boy Scout troops, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moving rendition of the National Anthem. Attendees will have the opportunity to share poignant stories and connect with Gold Star families as keynote speaker Debra Burger shares her personal journey of loss. Engage in meaningful activities, including writing notes from home, creating poppy flowers, and signing the remembrance board. The event also features uplifting performances by the Nittany Knights Barbershop Chorus and a solemn TAPS tribute. Pricing is available for families with three or more participants, making this a perfect occasion to come together and pay tribute to our fallen heroes. A Soldiers Hands is a non-profit partner of Carry The Load (CTL). CTL provides active ways to honor and remember our nations heroes by connecting Americans to the importance of Memorial Day. Join us as we honor and acknowledge those who lost their lives while defending our country. Walk if able or bring a chair and listen. Together, let's share stories and say their names. Doing so keeps their memory alive. #Whoareyoucarrying

Saturday: May 23:

9 A.M. Color Guard: local boy scout troop 380 and sister troop 328, Pledge of Allegiance

9:05 A.M. Kim Vance, National Anthem + opening prayer by local pastor tba

9:10 A.M. Welcome and acknowledge our Gold Star families and guests

9:15 A.M. Keynote speaker: Debra Burger, will share her experience as a 5th grader when her oldest brother went missing in 1968. He was shot down in a reconnaissance mission flying what was called an O2. Deb will also provide an update on their lifelong search for Lewis P Smith II remains.

9:30 A.M. Walk of celebration begins, 6 laps around the museum grounds = 5K.

9:30 A.M. Write a "note from home", create a poppy flower, sign our remembrance board

9:50-10:20 A.M. Nittany Knights Barbershop Chorus - beautifully sings Patriotic songs

10:30 A.M. TAPS performed by High Schooler Hannah Majewski, followed by 21 gun salute: Bellefonte VFW

9:00-10:30 A.M. Veteran organizations ready to offer guidance
