Event summary
Join us for the Abner Oakes III Veterans Run on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the scenic town of Hamden, South Central Connecticut. This exciting event features both a 5K and a 10K race, providing an excellent opportunity for runners of all levels to come together in support of a noble cause. Proceeds from this event will benefit House of Heroes Connecticut, an organization dedicated to honoring and serving military and public safety veterans, as well as their spouses, who have selflessly served our country.
Since its inception in 2012, House of Heroes Connecticut has completed no-cost home repairs for 319 veterans and their families across 73 cities in Connecticut, with plans to reach 326 projects by race day. This year's run is particularly special as it honors Abner Oakes III, a distinguished Navy Veteran and the founder of the Hamden Veterans Commission, who was inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame in 2010. Come run, celebrate, and show your support for those who have given so much—let's make this a memorable day for our veterans!
