FAQs: ARE STROLLERS ALLOWED? Yes, we love kids! Please start near the back of the pack for everyone's safety. ARE DOGS ALLOWED? No, sorry. While we love dogs too, for the safety and comfort of all runners, dogs are not permitted. WHERE CAN I PARK? Street parking is available and free. Parking will not be allowed on Ocean Avenue; First Avenue between Lincoln and Woodland; or the first block of Washington (near Ocean Avenue). HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR THE KIDS FUN RUN? The Kids Fun Run is organized by the Home and School Association, not the First Aid Squad. The HSA generally posts a registration link on the school web site. Go to www.avonschool.com for info. Kid's Fun Run is generally Friday night before the 5K. WHERE ARE THE POST-RACE REFRESHMENTS? While you are out having a wonderful race, our team will be setting up tables with water and food (typically bagels and fruit) on Ocean Avenue. Please keep walking up Ocean Avenue toward the pool after crossing the finish line. WHAT'S THIS ABOUT A POST-RACE RAFFLE? Right after the race, we will draw bib numbers at random, for prizes including 2 season badges to the beautiful Avon beach. No separate ticket required (we use the bib numbers) but you do have to be present to win. ARE THERE ANY OTHER PRIZES? We give prize money to the top three finishers, male and female, and the first Avon residents, male and female, to finish. 1st place $100 2nd place $50 3rd place $25 1st Avon resident $25 We also give a trophy to the first finisher and a medal for 2nd and 3rd place, male and female, in each age group. WHERE CAN I FIND THE RESULTS? Results will be posted on this website (click "Results" on the bottom of the page). Hard copy results will be posted on bulletin boards on the fence of the town pool, on Norwood Avenue. SPEAKING OF RESULTS ... Our friends at Elite Racing Systems will start recording your time WHEN YOU CROSS THE RUBBER MAT AT THE START and stop recording your time WHEN YOU CROSS THE RUBBER MAT AT THE FINISH. The mats are on Ocean Avenue. Please cross the mat both times, or your time will not be recorded. STREET CLOSING AND OPENING Streets in Avon will close at 8:00 AM. Please be parked by then. Streets will re-open on a rolling basis: streets up to the 1-mile mark re-open at 9:00. Streets up to the 2-mile mark re-open at 9:30. All streets will re-open by 10:00.
