What better way to kick off your Memorial Day weekend than with a 4-mile trail run through the beautiful Carolina Thread Trail. If you are a fast runner looking to compete for a spot on the podium or a family looking to enjoy the scenic trails while out walking the pups, this event is for you. We have put together a great course covering trails through both North and South Carolina. As the trail winds along the beautiful 12 mile Creek, you will experience some technical trails with roots and rocks, as well as gravel and paved paths, in addition to the famous Thread Trail Swinging Bridge.
EVENT INFO:
This is a point to point run. You will arrive on site to the festival area. Once you collect your race packet, you will get on a shuttle bus. The busses will drive from Walnut Creek SC to the starting line at Nesbit Park in Waxhaw NC- (10 Min drive) Busses will drop all runners, there will be no out and back route options. This event will be a staggered start. Fast runners to be sent off first in small groups and slower runners/walkers/ruckers to follow. We will have 2 neighborhood road crossings that will be directed by local PD. Traffic will be stopped for runners, however, please follow all police guidelines and directions while on course. This entire course runs along the Carolina Thread Trail, which is open to the public, so please use trail etiquette when passing others on the trails. Runners will exit at the Walnut Creek Trailhead and loop behind the fields to finish near the parking lot in the festival area. This will be a chip timed event, and all runners are required to wear their bib visibly while on course. As with any trail run, please use caution when on changing terrain. Gravel, single track, roots/rock/bridges can all be dangerous if not handled with caution.
This is the inaugural event of what we would like to be an annual battle to conquer the trails of the Carolinas.
LOCATION:
Parking will be located at Walnut Creek Neighborhood field parking lot at 10521 Walnut Creek Pkwy.
TIME:
Packet pickup will begin at 6:30 am
Shuttle buses will depart at 7:30
Race will start at 8am and stagger start small groups every 60 seconds
AID STATIONS:
There will be 1 water station located on the course around the halfway point.
At the finish line we will have a final aid station. Water, Tailwinds, bananas, granola bars, fruit snacks popcorn ect...
AWARDS:
We will have awards for overall top 3 finishers
All participants will receive race day t-shirt and medal
