Get ready to pedal your way to fun at the BikeAround Downtown Columbia event on Saturday, May 31, 2025! Taking place in the vibrant Merriweather District of Columbia, Howard, this exciting community event invites cyclists of all ages and skill levels to enjoy a leisurely ride through the scenic trails, pathways, and bike lanes of Downtown Columbia, Wilde Lake, and Harpers Choice.
The festivities kick off at 9:00 AM and run until noon, featuring a fantastic Block Party from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Participants can ride to the Block Party or bring their bikes along for the journey. With no official group start time, riders can enjoy the course at their own pace, starting and ending at Color Burst Park. For those looking for a little extra guidance, the Howard County Police Department’s Community Outreach & Pathways Section will lead group rides at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM, making it an excellent opportunity for younger and less experienced cyclists to ride alongside seasoned pros. Despite what the title says, this is not a race. It's a chance to hop on your bike and enjoy a relaxing ride along the trails, pathways, and bike lanes of Downtown Columbia, Wilde Lake, and Harpers Choice.
Join us as we celebrate BikeAround Downtown Columbia weekend with a Block Party on Saturday, May 31st in the Merriweather District from 9-12. You can ride the course to or from the Block Party or bring your bikes and ride to and from.
At the Block Party, The Downtown Columbia Partnership, the Howard County Office of Transportation, Bike HoCo, and more will be on hand to help you make cycling a bigger part of your transportation, fitness, and recreation routine. Register in advance and check-in on site to get your BikeAround shirt (if you selected to purchase one).
Timing: There is no group start time for BikeAround. The official timing for the event is 9:00 AM to noon on Saturday, May 31.
The Course: The course starts and ends in Color Burst Park. Thanks to the Columbia Associations Open Space team, the path will be marked so you should not need to refer to the turn-by-turn directions.
