The BOOTS ON THE GROUND race consists of a 5k family-oriented, pet-friendly, fun walk or run, as well as a more demanding 10k run. Hosted in incorporation by both LT. CHARLES A. MEYER, AMERICAN LEGION POST 86, NEWTON, NJ, AND SUSSEX COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, NEWTON, NJ. The SCCC campus is in Newton, NJ, the county seat of Sussex, nestled in the rolling hills of Northern New Jersey.
Lt. Charles A. Meyer, American Legion Post 86, a community-oriented post, serving veterans and their families, of the greater Newton area by directly supporting local homeless veteran organizations, the Boy Scouts of America, local student academic grants, and donations to local first responders.
Sussex County Community College is a leader in NJ Higher Education as a premier provider of 21st-century learning opportunities, professional training, and skills development to meet the needs of the people of our community in a globally competitive environment.
The event aims to bring attention and support to Sussex County's veterans. Both Lt. Charles A. Meyer, American Legion Post 86, and Sussex County Community College believe veterans transitioning back to civilian life appreciate and deserve the support of a welcoming community.
