Get ready for an exhilarating outdoor experience at the Canya Cañon Trail Race & Hike on Sunday, November 8th, 2026! Set in the breathtaking backdrop of Colorado Springs, El Paso, this event features a chip-timed 4-mile course along the stunning Columbine Trail, starting at the Starsmore Visitor & Nature Center. The race kicks off at 11:00 AM, with bib pick-up beginning at 10:15 AM. Participants will enjoy a scenic run up to the Powell parking lot, and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome to join the fun!

For those looking for a shorter challenge, a new 2.5-mile out-and-back course is also available, making it perfect for runners of all levels. Proceeds from the event benefit the Friends of Cheyenne Canyon, supporting vital park improvements and community programs. Don't forget to bring your own water bottle, as this is a cup-less race! Plus, the first 100 registrants will receive exclusive giveaway sun hoodies. With awards for top finishers and fun prizes, this event promises a fantastic day of fitness and community spirit in one of Colorado's most beautiful natural settings!

4 MILE COURSE EVENT DETAILS (FOR 2.5 MILE COURSE INFO. SCROLL DOWN)

Race Day: Sunday, November 8th

Start time 11:00am; Bib pick-up starts at 10:15am

Same course as last year (original 4-mile course that runs the length of the Columbine Trail).

This course will be chip timed by Pikes Peak Road Runners.

Participants will start at Starsmore and run up Columbine Trail to the Powell parking lot. Adventures Out West will shuttle participants back to Starsmore.



Well behaved and leashed pets are allowed! However, pets are not allowed in the Adventures Out West Jeeps so you will have to hike or run back down after you have finished, or arrange your own transportation.



ALL PROCEEDS benefit the Friends of Cheyenne Ca~non. Our mission is to preserve the natural resources of North Cheyenne Ca~non Park. We raise funds and sponsor park improvements, enrichment programs, community events, and opportunities for citizen and visitor involvement.

REGISTRATION & ENTRY FEES

Race Day Registration: 10:15am. Online registration is preferred.

Early Bird Individual: $40

Early Bird Family (3-6 people): $75

Starting Oct. 1:

Individual: $45

Family (3-6 people): $80

THIS RACE IS A CUPLESS RACE!

Please bring your own water bottle(s). There will be a water station at the spur to Gold Camp Road on Upper Columbine Trail (about 2.5 miles into the race). There will also be water at the finish line.

PARKING

Parking is available in any of the parking lots near Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center. Overflow parking is available in the dirt parking lot on Mesa Ave just west of Evans Ave.

RESTROOMS

Restrooms will be available inside the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center. Portable toilets will be available at the finish line in the Powell parking lot.

AWARDS

The top 3 overall male and female participants will receive a custom award. In addition the top male and female in each age group (10 year increments) will receive a custom reward.

Fun awards will be handed out as well!

All participants will receive a 2x4 painting.

Giveaway

Sun hoodies are only available to the first 100 participants to register. Please sign up soon to get one as if you sign up after October 10, you may not get the size you need!



2.5 Mile Course Event Details

Race Day: Sunday, November 8th

New route this year! This is an out and back course beginning and ending at Starsmore. Participants will start at Starsmore and run up Columbine Trail to the Mid Columbine parking lot. They will turn around here and head back down the trail to Starsmore.

This course will NOT be chip timed.

    Course Route: Runners/Hikers will begin at Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center. They will go up Columbine Trail to the Mid Columbine Parking lot and turn around there. They will then head back down Columbine Trail to Starsmore. This 2.5 mile course will not be chip timed. Participants are encouraged to keep their own time if this is something they are interested in.
