Participants can choose from three race distances: the challenging 13.1-mile half marathon, a 10K, and a delightful one-mile fun run perfect for kids.
Join us as we traverse scenic back roads lined with beautiful fence lines, farm life, and even a few railroad tracks! This year's event supports Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Efforts, giving back to the communities that have faced challenges in recent years. All finishers will receive a t-shirt if registered by December 2nd, and there will be plenty of refreshments available after the race. With awards for the top male and female finishers in all three race categories, this is a fantastic opportunity for runners of all levels to enjoy a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit. Organiser's Description
Its time to get to training! The 4th annual Back Roads not-so-typical half marathon is approaching. We had such great feedback and wanted to do it again. This year we continue to have the 10K and a one mile fun run race along with the half marathon. So, come with us as we take you on the back roads tour through the historic countryside of DeRidder. No heavy traffic, no red lights; just fence lines, farm life, and a couple railroad tracks along the twists and turns of our back roads. We are proud once again to be able to support Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Efforts. So many communities in Southwest Louisiana were devastated in 2020, on more than one occasion, and they were here for us. It's our turn to give back!
Here are a few things to remember:
* Kids are welcome to run the mile long "Fun Run" but if they are under the age of 13, will need to have an adult at the finish line to supervise them.
* All spectators will need to stay clear of the road and not interfere with runners/walkers, especially at the finish line.
* Once you finish the race, there will be water, Gatorades and other refreshments available free for participants.
* There will be top male and female placement awards for all 3 races.
* Half Marathon

* Roads will only be secured for a LIMITED TIME. If you choose to walk the 13.1 we ask that you walk at a brisk pace for the duration of the race.
* No pets; we don't want to invite unwanted pets to run after our participants. This race is through the back roads and rural areas. There may be a few loose dogs along the route. We do our best to raise awareness and to inform the neighborhoods of our upcoming event.
* All finishers will receive a t-shirt if registered by December 2. If registered after December 2nd, then T-shirts will be on a first come basis but not guaranteed.
* If you would like to be a sponsor please email us. Sponsors of $100+ will be listed on shirts.
* You will receive an email outlining the route the week before the race

The 10K will take the same route up to about the halfway mark of the half marathon. Then they will loop back around and come up the start line route. -

The Fun Run will have a later start than the half marathon and 10K runners. This route will loop around soccer complex and golf course.
