Join us for the exciting Grasshopper Mile Race on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, taking place at the picturesque South Adams High School in Berne, Indiana! This fun-filled event is designed for elementary school children in grades K-5 and promises to be an unforgettable experience. Runners will race through a scenic course that includes parts of the high school and middle school trails, finishing triumphantly under the iconic South Adams arch.
The Grasshopper Mile Race features age group categories for 3rd grade and under, 4th grade, and 5th grade, with the top three finishers in each category (both boys and girls) receiving special prizes. Race day registration kicks off at 4:30 PM, with races scheduled as follows: the 3rd grade race at 5:30 PM, followed by the 4th grade at 5:55 PM, and the 5th grade at 6:20 PM. While spikes are allowed on the course, please remember they are not permitted inside the school. Although this year’s race will be hand-timed, we’re hopeful for chip timing in the future! This is an Elementary cross country mile located at South Adams High School in Berne, Indiana at the Cross Country pavilion in the south parking lot. This is open to all Elementary kids K-5. The course is a chunk of our high school and middle school course with the finish through the South Adams arch.
There will be age groups consisting of 3rd grade and under, 4th grade, and 5th grade, with the top three in each age group (boys and girls) receiving a prize. Spikes are allowed on the course but are not permitted in the school. This year the race will not be chip-timed, it will be hand-timed. We are hoping the race can get enough attraction to get a chip time for next year! There will be tee shirts available for purchase at the race.
