Organiser's Description

There are four standard routes to choose from, all of them very hilly:

35 miles (~2,600 ft of climbing)
50 miles (~4,400 ft of climbing)
75 miles (~6,200 ft of climbing)
100 miles (~9,000 ft of climbing)
65K Gravel (~3,900 ft of climbing)
100K Gravel (~6,100 ft of climbing)
The 35 mile route starts at St. Mary's College and heads out Moraga Way to the classic "Three Bears" loop, including the rest stop at Briones. Then it's on to the finish for the post-ride meal.

The 50 mile "half century" route shortcuts the northern part of the 75 mile route. It is the heart of the 75 mile course but skips the northern portion. It offers plenty of climbing and great views.

The 75 mile (actually about 73 miles) course is bit longer than a metric century and is our most popular route. From the start at St. Mary's College, it climbs the east side of the Oakland-Berkeley Hills via Pinehurst Road, then follows the ridge up and over Grizzly Peak and into Tilden Park to the rest stop at Island Picnic Area. It then heads north to the edge of the Bay and the Carquinez Strait to the rest stop at Crockett. From there it climbs McEwen Road for a run down into Franklin Canyon and Alahambra Valley, then over Pig Farm Hill and through the hills around Briones Reservoir to the rest stop at Briones Regional Park. Finally, relatively easy riding on Moraga Way takes you back to the start for the post-ride meal.

The 100 mile route does a south loop to a rest stop. Then, it climbs the east side of the Oakland-Berkeley hills via Pinehurst Rd. and follows the ridge up and over Grizzly Peak and into Tilden Park to the rest stop at Island picnic area. It then heads north to the edge of the Bay and the Carquinez Strait to the rest stop at Crockett. From there it climbs McEwen Road for a run down Franklin Canyon and Alhambra Valley, then over Pig Farm Hill and through the hills around Briones Reservoir to the rest stop at Briones Regional Park. Finally, relatively easy riding on Moraga Way takes you back to the start for the post-ride meal.

This year we offer two gravel routes; 100K and 65K, which include some rest stops that are shared with the road routes. Both routes explore some of the greatest hits in our wonderful East Bay Regional parks. The 65K route traverses Redwood Park before hitting the trails of Tilden and Wildcat Canyon parks. Then it goes up and over the ridge to Old Pablo Trail before joining the road riders for the trip back to St. Mary's . The 100K route is identical to the 65K route except it adds a challenging early morning loop through Lake Chabot park.
