Organiser's Description
"Gulliver's Run" is a 5k Trail Run/Walk for dogs and their human companions, although you may participate without a canine pal. The proceeds of "Gulliver's Run" are donated to an established organization or veterinary practice that is directly involved in research or treatment of canine cancer. The establishment of an informal partnership with such an entity enables "Gulliver's Run" to have closer contact with the process that is our stated goal--fighting canine cancer. "Gulliver's Run" is a 501(c)3 non-profit, public charity whose mission is to carry on the battle against canine cancer. "Gulliver's Run" is named after Gulliver Rue, a Hungarian Vizsla who was a lifetime trail runner until his race was cut short by canine lymphoma. "Gulliver's Run" is held annually on the trails at beautiful Gifford Pinchot State Park on the first Sunday in November. It is a family friendly event with great prizes and awards, and many extra features.

CLOSEDOverall awards, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Male and Female in the 5k run, and Overall awards 1st and 2nd, Male and Female in the 5k walk are only awarded to teams of a human and a dog. In addition, there is a first place award for the first male and female runner in the 5k without a dog. There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female age group awards for the runners, no duplicate awards. 2024 will again have age group awards for our walkers. There are many other special awards for dogs and their humans, including the "Gulliver Rue" Award for the first Vizsla to finish and the "Hobie Award", presented to a family or dog who best exemplifies the spirit of the fight against canine cancer- an essay submission is required prior to race day. We also have "Duncan's Dash" returning for 2024. This is a free event for children 10 & under. It is a short dash along the lakefront with a 9:30 am start. Awards for all finishers, but parents must register and sign a waiver. Youth T-shirts can be purchased for "Duncan's Dash".
