Organiser's Description
WHAT IS THE MOSBY WOODS TURKEY TROT & SIDEWALK STROLL?
A low-key run/walk through the Mosby Woods neighborhood to celebrate our community and the spirit of the holiday as well as a chance to support our neighbors through food donations.
There is no formal entry fee for this event, but all participants are asked to CONTRIBUTE NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS AS THEIR ENTRY FEE. All non-perishables received will be donated to the Food For Others (FFO) [https://foodforothers.org] food bank in Merrifield. (See below for details on donations.)
How is it free of charge? This year, the costs associated with this event are being covered by our sponsors: the Mosby Woods Community Association, the Mosby Woods Pool, and local realtor Rob Traister.
WHEN DOES IT HAPPEN? This years event will be held on Thanksgiving morning, November 28. The 1K kids run will start at 8:30 a.m. The main 5K event starts at 9:00 a.m. (All participants and support volunteers should be able to return to their homes by 10:00 a.m.) Participants are requested to arrive for check-in 20-30 minutes prior to their event.
WHERE IS IT HELD? The start/finish this year will again be at the MOSBY WOODS POOL, which is located at 3136 Fair Woods Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22030. The pool facility includes a large parking lot. One Port-A-John will be available, but full restroom facilities will not be available at the pool, so please plan accordingly.

* dried or canned beans
* pasta
* spaghetti sauce (ideally in cans)
* canned tomatoes (crushed, peeled, diced, etc.)

* oil
* non-food items: New or clean reusable grocery bags (approximate size 8 1/2 x 14 x 15 inches)
(Please do not donate perishable food.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Given the low-key nature of this event, no roads will be closed for this event. Rather, the suggested run/walk course consists of paved sidewalks, paved/gravel trails, and safe street crossings with dedicated crossing guards.
The 1K kids run out-and-back course is entirely on a sidewalk, with no street crossings.
