This exciting event aims to raise vital funds for research on Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), a little-known yet serious type of heart attack that primarily affects women under 50, pregnant women, and new mothers.
Participants can enjoy a scenic 5K run or walk along the park's paved pathways and wooded trails, with the opening ceremony starting at 9:30 AM and the race kicking off at 10:00 AM. All finishers will receive a medal, and awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female participants, as well as the top finishers in various age categories. Whether you're an avid runner or prefer to walk at your own pace, this event promises fun for everyone, with refreshments, vendors, and a SCAD store available after the race. Join us for the 1ST ANNUAL OHIO (CLEVELAND AREA) SCADADDLE to raise money for much-needed SCAD research. Participants are invited to participate in the 5K walk/run at their own pace on the paved pathways and wooded trails at Longwood Park in Macedonia, Ohio.
OUR CAUSE
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood type of heart attack. SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms. Most patients are younger healthy women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
SCADADDLE 5K
Our 5K chip timed run/walk takes place at Longwood Park in Macedonia, Ohio. The 5K course runs through and around the park on a varied terrain of paved pathways and wooded trails.
Opening Ceremony kicks off at 9:30 am. The run begins at 10:00 am and all participants will be timed. Following the race, join us for refreshments, vendors, our SCAD store & fun for all.
Awards: All runners and walkers will be timed. All finishers will receive a medal. Awards will be given to the top three (3) overall male and female and the top male and top female in each of the following age categories: 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.
We encourage all participants to run or walk at their own pace.
