Join us for the Race For Heroes 5K on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in the beautiful downtown Summit, NJ! This exciting event takes place at The Village Green, where participants can enjoy a scenic 5K run or walk on a USATF-certified course, perfect for runners of all levels. The morning kicks off with check-in at 8:00 am, followed by a warm-up at 8:50 am, and the main race starting at 9:00 am. Additionally, there will be a fun run for kids at 9:30 am, making this a fantastic family-friendly event.
Not only will you have a great time, but you'll also be supporting a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the race will go towards Bridges' mission to combat homelessness through outreach and case management focused on health, housing, and independence. Participants in the 5K will receive an event t-shirt, race bib, and post-race refreshments, while kids participating in the Fun Run will earn a medal and special prize. Sign up now to join us on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at The Village Green in downtown Summit, NJ for a beautiful morning of exercise and fun for a great cause. Your morning will consist of a 5k run or walk along our USATF-certified course through Summit, and a Fun Run for the kids around The Village Green.
All proceeds support Summit- and Newark-based Bridges' mission and programs, which seek to end homelessness through street outreach and intensive case management focusing on health, housing, and independence.
WHEN: Sunday, November 2nd 2025
TIME:
* 8:00am - Check-in begins
* 8:50am - Warm-up
* 9:00am - 5K Run/Walk
* 9:30am - Kids Fun Run
ALL ABOUT IT: Each 5k participant will receive an event t-shirt, race bib, and post-race refreshments. Live DJ and volunteer opportunities will also be on-site throughout the morning. Top fundraisers and top racers in each category will receive awards after the race. T-shirts will only be guaranteed for those who register by October 20, 2025. Kids Fun Run participants will receive a medal and prize (no t-shirt).
EARLY BIRD RATES:
* 5K race for 18 years and older - $40 (increases to $45 on 10/1)
* 5K race for under 18 years old - $30 (increases to $35 on 10/1)
* 5K race for Veteran Participants - $25 (no increase)

Park on the side street, Russell Place, and you will see our table outside by the Oakes Center door. In the case of inclement weather, come in the marked door to the vestibule. Parking lot available on Ashwood Ave if needed. Walk around building to our table.
Please note: Kids Fun Run will not receive event t-shirts unless there are extras, so early check-in is NOT necessary for these registrants.
RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP & REGISTRATION: T-Shirt/Bib pickup will begin at 8am in the Village Green. Same day registration will be available.
_Kids Fun Run begins at 9:30am while the 5K is finishing up. Registrants can arrive at 9am to check-in for the Kids Fun Run._
PARKING: Parking is available on the street and in nearby municipal lots.
WATER STATION: There will be one water station on the course.
STROLLERS: Strollers are allowed on the race course, we just ask that you line up near the end for your safety and the safety of other participants.
POST RACE FOOD/DRINK: After you cross the finish line, we will provide free water, fruit and packaged post-race snacks.

Children of all ages are welcome to register for our Kids Fun Run around the Village Green. Event volunteers will lead the kids on the route around the green in this fun run that lets the kids decide how many laps they want to complete. Each child will be given a sticker for every lap they complete, and a special prize at the end of their run.
