Organiser's Description

The 12th annual Boxer Brief 5K Run/Walk brings together colorectal cancer survivors, patients, family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to energize efforts to prevent and defeat our countrys second cancer killer in men and women. Colorectal cancer is a preventable cancer and the proceeds support the work of Hitting Cancer Below the Belt to continue their screening and educational services.
Join us at City Stadium, Home of the Richmond Kickers, or in your own neighborhood! There is a GLOBAL virtual challenge option for those living outside of Richmond, Virginia or for those interested in an entire weekend challenge. The goal of the virtual option is to accumulate miles as participants participate in various activities. The miles accumulated can be achieved through the following activities: Walk, Run, Ride, Swim or Paddle! Yep! Collect those miles as you participate in multiple activities throughout the weekend of June 8th - June 9th! Perfect for the triathlete, the runner who also likes to hike, our swimmer friends, and for those rowing and paddling on the water. No need to record a time, we just need your miles and your awesome photos!
Returning in 2024 is the High School Challenge! High School students can win money for their schools and designate the department to receive those funds. The top two finishers in the High School Challenge can win $250 and $150 respectively for their school. An extra $100 is awarded to the school with the largest school participation. The student rate to participate and compete for their school is just $30 and will not increase.
New in 2024 - The DIAPER DASH! We are including our littlest athletes. Enter your child under the age of two for the Dash competition. Your child will compete on the professional Richmond Kickers soccer field prior to the 5K start. All little participants will race 25 yards towards the glory of winning their first race! Registration for the Diaper Dash can be found on site on race day. There is NO charge for the Dash; however, we do ask for a small donation if you feel moved.
The popular Caped Colon Crusader kids sprint begins the fun! At the live event on June 8th prior to the 5K, our non-diaper wearing participants have the opportunity to participate in the Caped Colon Crusader sprint. Children under the age of six are encouraged to wear their favorite cape and show how fierce and fast they are as they sprint towards the finish line. Registration for the Caped Colon Crusader sprint can be found on site on race day. There is NO charge for the sprint; however, we do ask for a small donation if you feel moved.
Music, costumes, games, and prizes creates a high energy morning!  Awards will be given to the overall fastest man and woman along with the top age group males and females. Team Awards are offered for Best Team Costume and Largest Team which highlights the tremendous team passion along the course. We are rewarding participants who share their special URL code and bring THREE or more additional participants to the event with a $10 refund. Locate your special URL code on the email confirmation you receive after registering. We appreciate the referrals which we know saves lives!
We hope you join us at City Stadium, Home to the Richmond Kickers for the 12th annual Boxer Brief 5K which offers lots of entertainment and education while paying tribute to the warriors challenged with this disease. The Run to Save Buns has something for everyone!
