Get ready for a one-of-a-kind running experience at the Run Inside the Wire 10K and Full Marathon on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, in Grafton, Lorain! This unique race takes place entirely within the secure perimeter of Grafton Correctional Institution, featuring a 3/4 mile loop that participants can run for either a half or full marathon distance. Join fellow runners as you hit the track alongside residents of GCI who are part of the inspiring Running2bwell training program. This event not only promises an exhilarating challenge but also aims to raise crucial funds to support the program, which recently received a boost with the purchase of $5,000 worth of running shoes for the men at GCI.
As a participant, you'll receive a custom t-shirt and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those working hard to turn their lives around. Please note that this event has specific entry requirements, including a strict dress code for female runners and a limit of 30 entries, so be sure to register early! Remember to arrive by 6:00 AM to clear security, as this isn't your typical race. Runners are only allowed to bring water bottles, hats, and watches

Organiser's Description
This unique race will take place completely within the Grafton Correctional secure perimeter. We will run a 3/4 mile loop for either a half or full marathon
We will be running with residents that are part of the Running2bwell training program that recently started at GCI and all proceeds will support Running2bwell. We recently bought $5000 worth of shoes for the men at GCI and we're hoping to raise that amount at the race.
Runners will receive a custom t-shirt (sizes not guaranteed). Most importantly, you'll have the chance to run some miles with men that are working hard to improve their lives on their homecourt.
Female runners are allowed this year but there is a strict dress code. Shirts must have sleeves, shorts must go mid-thigh. No tight or form-fitting apparel. More rules may follow as I get them.
Do not give anything (hats, shirts, etc.) to the men at GCI.
Guest runners must be 21 or over.
Guest runners cannot be currently on an inmate visitation pass.
For security and logistical reasons we're limiting entries to the first 30 to register.
YOU MUST ARRIVE BY 6:00 AM TO CLEAR SECURITY. This isn't your usual race.
RUNNERS CANNOT BRING ANYTHING EXCEPT WATER BOTTLES, HATS, AND WATCHES. No phones, headphones, etc. You must bring a photo id and will need to lock your car keys in a locker at the entry point. Everyone is subject to search. While this is one of the safest facilities in the state, it's still a prison, and security for all is the highest priority.
If you can't make it, please consider making a donation of any size to support this new and exciting program.
