Event summary

Join us for the inspiring Run/Walk To Save a Life 5K on Sunday, September 28, 2025, in Hamden, South Central Connecticut. This heartfelt event honors the legacy of Christopher Andreozzi, a beloved member of the community who tragically lost his life to sudden cardiac death. As a dedicated psychiatric APRN, Chris was passionate about patient care and mental health advocacy, aligning perfectly with the cause of this race. Participants will not only enjoy a scenic 5K run or walk but also contribute to meaningful causesโ€”half of the proceeds will support the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, while the remainder will aid in advancing research and education for Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS).

The event is designed to promote awareness and education, with health care professionals on-site to teach participants life-saving skills such as CPR and the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This is more than just a race; it's a community gathering aimed at saving lives and promoting mental health awareness. Come be a part of this uplifting experience, and together, we can make a difference!

Organiser's Description

Run/Walk To Save a Life is in honor of Christopher Andreozzi who passed away suddenly from sudden cardiac death caused by an arrhythmia on May 23, 2023.

Christopher (Chris) was a lifelong resident of Hamden who graduated from Hamden High, Trinity College and Yale University. Chris was a devoted psychiatric APRN at Yale New Haven Hospital and Turnbridge. He was passionate about the care of his patients and believed that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.

Chris was an avid supporter of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline as their mission mirrored his philosophy on the care of the person with mental illness therefore half of the proceeds from the race will be donated to this organization.

The rest of the proceeds will be donated to the Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS) to advance research, medical education and to ultimately prevent these avoidable young deaths from cardiac arrhythmias. At the race, health care workers will be on site to educate you on how to perform CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). CPR and early defibrillation saves lives!
