This uplifting event is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend Derek Dexter, who had a passion for running and inspiring others in the sport. The 5K race will take place at Lake St. Clair Metropark, where participants can enjoy a scenic and welcoming course that is stroller and dog-friendly.
Registration opens at 7:00 AM, with packet pick-up available until 7:45 AM at the West Playfield Shelter, located next to the Nature Center. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a finisher award. Be sure to register by April 20th to guarantee your race shirt and medal! A Metroparks pass or a $10 day pass is required for entry into the park. By joining us, you’ll not only honor Derek’s legacy but also support local high school athletes pursuing engineering scholarships while embracing their love of running. A 5k in honor of our friend Derek Dexter who passed away suddenly in May of 2024. Derek loved running and promoting the sport of running. This 5k honors Derek in the best way we know how. Participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher award.
Onsite registration and packet pick up will be from 7:00-7:45 am at the West Playfield Shelter (next to the Nature Center) in Lake St Claire Metropark.
