Join us for the inspiring John L. Coverly Sr. Memorial 5K and Agent Orange Awareness Run on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Atglen, Chester! This second annual event celebrates the bravery of Vietnam Veterans and raises awareness about the lasting effects of Agent Orange. The 5K run will take participants on a scenic trail around the school grounds, featuring a mix of small hills, grassy areas, and pavement, while also offering the option to stay on the track. For those looking for a shorter distance, a one-mile fun run will be held on the track, where participants can complete four laps.
This year, we’re excited to introduce a virtual option, allowing everyone to join in the fun from their favorite running spot! Sign up by March 9, 2025, to secure your event t-shirt and finishers medal. Registration opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 9:30 AM, with in-person fees set at $50 for the 5K and $45 for the fun run. Don’t forget to capture your run if you’re participating virtually for a chance to win an Amazon gift card! Let’s come together to honor John Coverly’s legacy and support our veterans

MOORE FOR THE TROOPS IS BACK WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL 5K....WITH SOME FUN CHANGES!!
Our focus for 2025 is Vietnam Veterans and bringing awareness to the impact of Agent Orange. The 5K is being held in memory of John Coverly. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, having voluntarily enlisted and requesting deployment to the Vietnam War, reflecting his deep dedication to his country. John was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service. He peacefully passed away at home on September 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.
5K DETAILS:
This year we are taking the 5K off the track and onto school grounds. We will start and end the run on the track but the 5K will follow a trail around the school which includes some small hills, grassy areas and pavement.
If you prefer to stay on the track for the 5K, that is also an option.
The one mile fun run will remain on the track. 4 laps around the track is equal to 1 mile.
NEW ADDITION - This year we are adding a VIRTUAL option! If you would like to join us but aren't able to attend on April 5, you can still help us deliver our mission by running on your treadmill or favorite trail close to home!
*In person participants will receive a t-shirt and finishers medal
