Get ready for an exhilarating day of running and fun at the 2nd Annual Princeton Mile on Saturday, June 6th, 2026! This exciting road race will take place in the charming town of Princeton, Bureau, featuring a certified course along the historic Main Street. Runners will start at the iconic Apollo Theater and sprint towards Rotary Park, where the atmosphere will be buzzing with live music, delicious food, and refreshing drinks at the popular Shrimpfest.
The event includes two thrilling races: the elite division, kicking off at 10:00 AM for those vying for a $1,000 prize—reserved for the first male and female finishers who meet qualifying times of sub 4:30 and sub 5:30 minutes, respectively—and an open division starting at 10:15 AM for anyone eager to join in the fun. All participants will receive a race bib, chip timing, and a stylish Princeton Mile t-shirt. Plus, everyone crossing the finish line will be rewarded with a complimentary donut from Miss Betsy's Donuts! With activities for families and kids, as well as complimentary stretching and body scans from Anytime Fitness, the Princeton Mile promises a day full of excitement and community spirit. The race will take place on Princetons historic Main Street, starting at the Apollo Theater and ending at Rotary Park, just in time to enjoy live music, food and drinks at Shrimpfest.
The course is a straight line, fully paved city street. If you are looking to set a personal best time for a mile, this would be the place to do it. The course has been certified and the race will be chip timed. The first race will feature elite runners who will be competing for a $1000 prize which will be awarded to the first male and female finisher. In order to participate in this race, male runners must be able to run a mile under 5 minutes and female runners must be able to run a mile under 6 minutes. The second race is open to anyone wishing to run and have fun. All runners crossing the finish line will receive a complimentary donut courtesy of Miss Betsys Donuts. Anytime Fitness of Princeton will also offer complimentary assisted stretching and body scans at the end of the race.
All paid entrants will receive a race bib/chip and a Princeton Mile t-shirt designed and printed by local Chamber members. Awards will be announced on the stage at Shrimpfest immediately following the completion of the second race. For those traveling from Chicago or the suburbs, Princeton has an Amtrak station. The start time of the race will allow for those taking the train from the city and suburbs ample time to jog to the starting line before the races begin. The race finishes at Rotary Park which is adjacent to the Amtrak station.
