Ville to Ville Sprint Relay

THE EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 16, 2024. DETAILS HAVE BEEN EMAILED TO ALL PARTICIPANTS. TEAMS WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REGISTERED FOR THE RESCHEDULED DATE UNLESS THE TEAM CAPTAIN SELECTS ANOTHER OPTION BY OCTOBER 13.

The Ville to Ville Sprint Relay is a 3-person running relay. Teams will complete 21 miles with a start and finish at Holland Park in Greenville, SC. Runners will travel the Green Line section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail and enjoy a festive post-race celebration with music, college football, and craft brews. Enjoy all the fun of Ville to Ville camaraderie in a shorter timeframe without needing a team vehicle.

All participants will receive a super soft hoodie sweatshirt, race medal, race SWAG, and a complimentary craft beer or non-alcoholic drink.

RACE FORMAT

The inaugural event features six legs, with each consecutive leg getting shorter by one mile. Three team members will split the six legs, with runner #1 completing Legs 1 & 4, runner #2 completing Legs 2 & 5, and runner #3 completing Legs 3 & 6. ALL TEAMS WILL START THE EVENT AT 10 AM.

TOTAL TEAM FEE: $240
Team Captains will pay all team fees when registering.

TEAM CAPTAIN

Each team will have a team captain (we will initially use the name and contact info of the person registering) who will be responsible for recruiting teammates and meeting appropriate deadlines. We will provide regular race information and updates for the team captain on our website and through monthly email newsletters. The Team Captain role can be transferred to another person at any point. Existing captains should email [email protected] and Cc the new captain if they change captains.

TEAM ROSTERS

Once the team captain registers, they can invite their teammates to join the team online. Team members will not pay any fees upon registration. Preliminary team rosters are due on August 28, 2024. Sweatshirt sizes will be guaranteed for anyone registering by the preliminary deadline. The ability to add or change team members will remain open until race day; however, changes after September 21, 2024, will carry a $25 fee.

COURSE SAFETY

We love your kids and dogs, but strollers and pets will not be allowed on the race course due to course limitations and participant safety. There is plenty of room at the start/finish area for supervised children and pets to wait for you as you run.

RACE THEME

Favorite Sports Team or Athlete - Here we go, runners, here we go (clap, clap)! The inaugural Ville to Ville Sprint Relay will be held on a beautiful Fall Saturday in the South. Dress to support your favorite sports team or athlete as you run and cheer on your relay team on race day.

PACKET PICKUP

UPDATE (9/25) - Due to the anticipated inclement weather on Friday, packet pickup for all teams will take place on Saturday, September 28th, from 8-9:30 am at Holland Park, 813 Laurens Rd, Greenville, SC 29607.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

All runners must be at least 13 years old on race day.

TEAM NAME

Be creative, but keep it classy. Your team name will appear in many public places, so make sure it will make your parents proud. You will submit your team name during registration, but it can be changed until August 28, 2024.

Open Co-ed (minimum of 1 female)
Open Female (all females)
Masters Open (all 40+)
Masters Co-ed (minimum of 1 female, all 40+)
Masters Female (all 40+ females)
_*Team categories will be chosen during registration but can be changed until race weekend. All teams should have three team members, but teams can run with two members._

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category. There will also be an award for the team with the most Ville to Ville spirit and the team with the best Social Media Presence on race day. Awards will be announced between 1:30-2:30 pm.

TEAM PACE

This is a running event. EACH TEAM MUST HAVE AN AVERAGE TEAM PACE OF 12:00 MINUTES PER MILE OR LESS for us to plan law enforcement and volunteer support on the course. Each team member will provide an estimated 5K race pace when registering.

CANCELLATION/WEATHER

This is a rain-or-shine event. The race director can change the course or event in case of inclement weather or state/permit restrictions.
