Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the 17th Annual YMCA of Barry County Turkey Trot, happening on Thanksgiving morning, November 27th, 2025, in Hastings, Barry! This festive event invites participants of all ages to join in the fun with two exciting race options: a 5K run/walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5K kicks off at 8:45 AM, while the Fun Run starts at 8:30 AM, both beginning at the corner of Buehler Rd & Iroquois Trail.
Bring your family and friends to this wonderful community gathering where the top male and female 5K winners will be awarded a turkey from Otto's Turkey Farm! Plus, there are prizes for best dressed participants and a special School Challenge where schools can compete for the coveted Turkey Trophy. Don’t forget to give back by bringing non-perishable food items to support the Barry County United Way. Come and participate in the beautiful run/walk near YMCA Camp Algonquin on Thanksgiving morning. Our 17th annual Turkey Trot includes a 5K run/walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run. As always, we will award the top male and female runners from Otto's Turkey Farm with their turkeys. Bring along your loved ones and enjoy a morning full of fun! WOBBLE BEFORE YOU GOBBLE!

8:45 am 5K @ corner of Buehler Rd & Iroquois Trail
RACE DAY PARKING:
ALCA Lodge, 2403 Iroquois Trail, & New Y Building, 2350 Iroquois Trail. Please follow instructions from the parking attendants. No public parking is available at YMCA Camp Algonquin.
5K RACE ROUTE:
Begins at Buehler Road, right on Woodruff Road, right on Hammond Road, right on Iroquois Trail, ends on the front lawn at YMCA Camp Algonquin.
1 MILE FUN RUN ROUTE:
Begins on Buehler Road, left on Iroquois Trail, goes past the camp to the turnaround sign, and ends on the front lawn at YMCA Camp Algonquin.
CONTESTS/PRIZES:
* 1st Place Male and Female 5K Adult 18+ winners: Win the race, and you will receive a turkey donated by Ottos Turkey Farm!
* 1st Place Male and Female 5K Youth 17 & Under winners: Will receive a dozen donuts!
* Best Dressed: Wear your most festive fall gear. The best-dressed will win a prize and have their picture taken at the finish!
SCHOOL CHALLENGE:
Gather all the members of your school district and invite them to join you in a 5K run/walk! The school with the highest percentage of students participating in relation to its enrollment within the school system will be presented with the prestigious Turkey Trophy, which can be displayed at the school for the following year. The trophy will be awarded and announced in the week following Thanksgiving.
GIVE: On race day, all racers are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items. The Y will donate all items to the Barry County United Way. Donation tables will be in both parking lots.
END OF EVENT:
Meet us on the front lawn of YMCA Camp Algonquin, 2055 Iroquois, after you finish for HOT COCOA, water, and giveaways!
