This exciting event invites runners, joggers, walkers, and rollers of all ages to participate in a thrilling 5K race that kicks off at the east end of Anniversary Plaza and winds its way to the Alice Campbell Alumni Center. Starting at 10:00 AM, participants will not only enjoy a fun and energizing race but also celebrate afterwards with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and lively entertainment from the Marching Illini and special guests.
Whether you’re a student, staff member, faculty, alumni, or a dedicated Illini fan, everyone is welcome to join in the festivities! For those unable to attend in person, a Virtual Homecoming 5K offers the chance to participate throughout Homecoming Week from September 21 to September 27, 2025. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity—register early to secure your race t-shirt and be part of this lively community celebration!

WELCOME TO THE EIGHTH ANNUAL ILLINOIS HOMECOMING 5K RACE! Join us on SEPTEMBER 8TH AT 10:00 AM, RAIN OR SHINE, to run, jog, walk, or roll from the east end of Anniversary Plaza to the Alice Campbell Alumni Center. After finishing, we invite you to celebrate at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center with food, drinks, the Marching Illini, and other special guests to kick off Homecoming week! Students, staff, faculty, alumni, community members, Illini fans, and families are all welcomed!
We also have a Virtual Homecoming 5K for those who can't make it to Champaign-Urbana for the in-person race! This will be open for the entire duration of Homecoming Week, September 8th through September 14th. It should be noted that shirts are not available for the virtual event.
Registration for the in-person race will be open from July 23rd to 9:30 am on September 8th. To BE GUARANTEED A RACE T-SHIRT FOR THE IN-PERSON 5K, PLEASE REGISTER BEFORE 11:59 PM ON AUGUST 20TH.

OPENS 05 AUGYou can still kick off Homecoming week even if you can't join us in Champaign-Urbana! Wear your best orange and blue to run, walk, or roll the 5K! You will have all of Homecoming week to finish and submit your results. Registration will open at 12:00 am on 7/23 and close at 11:59 pm on 9/8. It should be noted, you will not receive a shirt or a race bib and chip.
