2024 MILES OF SMILES



The fifth annual MILES OF SMILES FOR MICALA will be held virtually and will start on Micala's 46th birthday, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19TH, and will end on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22ND. Please come join us as we run, bike, jog, and/or walk and log your miles on the event website in honor of MICALA (Christie Hicks) SILER. We will participate in this virtual run "together" from wherever you are in the world.



2024 DONATIONS WILL GO TO_ A FAMILY FOR EVERY ORPHAN (AFFEO)

MICALA was the founding Executive Director of A FAMILY FOR EVERY ORPHAN (AFFEO), a charity with a global reach and the singular objective of finding loving families for the _unparented_ children of the world. Her vision of creating a world without orphans was fueled by the reality that too many children are required to navigate life in institutional care or simply fend for themselves. MICALA was quick to point out a statistic she culled from a United Nation's data base; i.e., if all of the world's children were placed together in one geographic location it would constitute the world's fourth most populous country.



Since the time MICALA was barely able to walk, she developed an unusually deep appreciation of what it meant to care for others. First with her six younger siblings, later with her network of friends and eventually with the world's needy. This came from a very early appreciation for what God had given her in life and her strong desire to feed those who hungered for what she had in abundance ... a loving and nurturing home.



We are asking you to help her family honor MICALA'S memory by participating in an event that is structured to do two things. FIRST, we want to raise awareness of the global problem of orphaned children and the wonderful work AFFEO is currently doing to address this crisis. SECOND, we would like to provide you with a meaningful way to honor MICALA'S legacy and to reflect on how your life is an inspiration to others ... and if not, then why?



AFFEO continues MICALA'S vision through their tireless work in some of the most impoverished and war-torn regions of the world. This year, all funds raised from MILES OF SMILES FOR MICALA will go toward AFFEO's general mission with a particular focus on providing support for children who have lost parents due to armed conflict.



There is no fee to participate in this event. We are only asking that you give prayerful consideration of a donation to support AFFEO's mission ... to make Micala's vision of a "_world without orphans" _closer to reality ... with one step at a time, to save one child at a time:

COMMEMORATIVE SHIRTS AND HOODIES:

This year's tee-shirt/hoodie design was created with input from with NOELLE and KEIRA (Micala's two oldest daughters, now 6th and 8th grade, respectively). The center of the shirt is the AFFEO logo which is lovingly wrapped in an angel wings. Under the wings, read three words; PRAY. ACT. INSPIRE.



937 INK, a local Springboro company has generously offered to donate 20% of the proceeds from our shirt sales this year to AFFEO. T-shirts will be shipped directly to you at your home address or if you live in Springboro you may make arrangements to pick them up. YOU WILL NEED TO PLACE THE ORDERS PRIOR TO DEC-8TH. After this date the on-line store will close so that they will have time to do the printing and allow time for delivery by the start of the event on Dec-19th.
