Organiser's Description
How does it work? Enter the Saturday 80 mile Texas Chainring Massacre to qualify by beating the cutoff times (tbd).
Those who qualify will be invited to the Sunday 120(ish) mile main event which requires a $100 entry fee. ALL of that entry fee goes to the prize purse! 50 entries = $5000 purse minimum (now guaranteed), 100 entries = $10,000 purse minimum.
50% of the purse goes to men's/women's podiums 1-3. 50% of the purse will be randomly distributed within the full field of those who complete both days within the cutoff times. Cutoff times will be realistic for strong ultra endurance gravel riders.
Looking to apply for the the inaugural Privateer Invitational Gravel Race? The application window has expired but there are still two ways you can get in.... OPTION A: Race your way into the Privateer on the Saturday qualifier (80ish mile) race. OPTION 2: Get invited by an existing participant of the Privateer Invitational,
Please note, this is now a two day format with the featured A Race (The Privateer Preseason Invitational) rolling on Sunday. 80 mile Saturday riders can use their finishing time to qualify for the Sunday main event if they did not receive an invitation. More details soon.
The fastest 100 miles on gravel is now the fastest 130+ miles of gravel! 10 hour cutoff to log a reference time. As currently mapped on Ride With GPS 133 miles and 6400' of climbing. Routes are subject to change. Do not plan on setting up for a sprint finish. You had better establish your gaps while out on the course. Think of it as a mass start TT. Drafting is allowed, assisting other riders is allowed, neutral water tables and stores will be along the route. Aside from those particulars this should be considered a self supported event. No team vehicles or cached supplies for support allowed. All distances are intended to be fun training rides for every level of experience.
Same general rules apply for the 80ish mile amateur distance and the 50ish mile practice event. 80 and 50 mile routes are awards for bragging rights only but will include age breaks in addition to the overall accolades. Please note that overall rankings for these distances will be excluded from the age based rankings. Age/gender breaks will be determined based on attendance.
"Non competitive" riders are eligible to ride all distances 80 miles or less. Non competitive riders will not receive an official time. Beginner riders are limited to riding just the Beginner distance.
Please note that we have a new host city/venue for this year. Club membership must be effective on event day for the discount to be available. More details soon.
Entry fee covers a trial membership to Club Spinistry for those who are not current members. A portion of the fee can be applied towards a full membership within 7 days of the completion of this event.
