Join us for the 29th Annual Thanksgiving Walk of Awareness on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in beautiful Frankfort, Franklin! This uplifting event not only promotes community spirit but also raises crucial funds for the Access Soup Kitchen and Men's Shelter, which provides essential food, supplies, and services to those in need year-round. Participants can choose to walk in person along a scenic 2.2-mile route that begins at VFW Post 4075, winds around the Capitol, and concludes at the Access facility. Alternatively, you can join virtually by walking the distance wherever you prefer.
By participating, you'll be part of a vital mission to combat homelessness and support local residents. Last year, your contributions helped provide over 13,000 meals and secure housing for individuals in need. Don’t forget to register by November 11 to guarantee your event T-shirt! Let’s come together as a community to make a difference this Thanksgiving. Your generosity makes all the difference!

THE THANKSGIVING WALK OF AWARENESS HELPS ACCESS SOUP KITCHEN & MENS SHELTER PROVIDE FOOD, SUPPLIES, SERVICES AND SHELTER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR THOSE IN NEED AND BRINGS AWARENESS TO HOMELESSNESS.
ACCESS IS GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY AND AS THIS IS THE MINISTRY'S LARGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR, WE THANK YOU, IN ADVANCE, FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
BETWEEN JANUARY-JULY, 2024, YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO ACCESS:
- HELPED MAINTAIN THE SOUP KITCHEN AND SHELTER IN DAILY SERVICES
- ALLOWED US TO PROVIDE APPROXIMATELY 13,216 MEALS TO FRANKFORT RESIDENTS (PROJECTED 26,432 FOR THE 2024 YEAR), AVERAGING 508 MEALS PER WEEK
- HELPED GAIN PERMANENT HOUSING FOR 11 MEN WHO WERE SHELTER RESIDENTS
- HELPED 21 VETERANS GAIN NEEDED SERVICES
- AIDED IN HIRING CAPABLE STAFF
HOW CAN YOU WALK? ON THANKSGIVING DAY, PARTICIPANTS CAN CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
OPTION 1: IN-PERSON: WALK THE ACTUAL ROUTE.
- PLEASE NOTE CHANGE!!! - BECAUSE OF THE CLOSURE OF THE SINGING BRIDGE THIS YEAR'S WALK OF AWARENESS WILL BEGIN AT THE VFW POST 4075, 104 E 2ND STREET, FRANKFORT, KY. IT WILL HEAD DOWN CAPITAL AVENUE, AROUND THE CAPITOL, BACK DOWN CAPITAL AVENUE, AND END AT THE ACCESS FACILITY.
OPTION 2: VIRTUAL: WALK THE ROUTE DISTANCE (APPROX. 2.2 MILES) ON YOUR EXERCISE EQUIPMENT, AROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, OR AT A LOCATION OF YOUR CHOOSING.
