Join us for the exhilarating Back The Blue Pump N Run on Saturday, October 10th, 2026, in the vibrant community of Ames, Story! This unique event combines fitness and fun, inviting participants to showcase their strength and endurance in a thrilling 5K Pump and Run. Athletes will have the opportunity to bench press a percentage of their weight and compete in a 5K race, with their final score determined by a combination of their lifts and run time.
Weigh-ins and lifts will take place from 8:00 am to 8:45 am, followed by the race kickoff shortly after. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, participants can simply walk or run in the 5K. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each age category, along with a special traveling trophy for the top Law Enforcement Official. Plus, don’t miss the Kids Dash at 8:45 am! Mark your calendars and prepare to pump, run, and walk to support our local heroes!

Organiser's Description
Pump, Run or Walk to Back the Blue. 5K Pump and Run a participant's score will be based on a combination of how many times he/she can bench press a % of their weight (see weight charts posted on the Facebook page for this event) & 5K race time. Pump and Run athletes can weigh in and lift between 8:00 am and 8:45 am on race day. Race to start shortly after.
To calculate the score, an athlete will reduce their 5K run time by 30 seconds for each successful lift (maximum 30 reps for a maximum of 15-minute reduction. Participants may also just run or walk in the 5k portion of the event. The top male and female participants in each age category will receive a medal. There will be a traveling trophy for top Law Enforcement Official.
Kids dash at 8:45 on race day.
