IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY FEE! This event is still working with the local state park to secure the event. Due to current Colorado State Park regulations, we are working to sort a final permit. If you register for the event now, and if the event does NOT move forward, you will be refunded your fee, minus any registration fees from runsignup.com. Mountain Madness: The Ultimate Team Orienteering Challenge!



Teamwork, strategy, and adventure await in Mountain MadnessColorados most exhilarating team orienteering trail race! In this two-hour, all-terrain challenge, teams must rely on map and compass skillsno GPS allowed!to navigate the rugged wilderness and collect as many checkpoints as possible before time runs out.



Theres no set courseonly the raw beauty of Colorados backcountry and the strategy your team brings to the race. Stay together, choose your route wisely, and decide whether to chase high-value checkpoints deep in the mountains or rack up points with closer, faster finds. The terrain is unpredictable, the clock is ticking, and teamwork is everything.



Self-sufficiency is key. Your team must carry all necessary supplies, adapt to changing conditions, and push your limits through forests, ridgelines, and rocky trails.     LOCATION: Staunton State Park, Pine, Colorado DATE: Sunday, May 25, 2025 TIME: 2 hours from check-in/start (Between 8:00am - 9:00am) FORMAT: Team orienteering (teams of 2) OBJECTIVE: Collect as many checkpoints as possible within the time limit. Each checkpoint has a unique score value. Teams with the highest score and fastest time will be declared winners. CHECK-IN: Runners can check in and start anytime between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM at the Ranch Hand Group Picnic Area at Staunton State Park. There is no specific start time, allowing teams to begin their adventure at their preferred moment. NOTES: Participants are only permitted to use a map and compass. A detailed map will be provided at the start of the race. Also, runners must be self-sufficient throughout the event. This means carrying all necessary gear and supplies without external support. A comprehensive kit list and additional race information can be found at https://mountain-madness.com/about/, and will also be emailed to all registered participants. It is essential to review this information carefully to ensure compliance with race requirements. Participants will have their kit spot checked; any missing kit from spot check will mean immediate disqualification. Once registered, you will receive detailed instructions and the mandatory kit list via email.
