Join us for the exciting Occoneechee State Park Annual Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the picturesque town of Clarksville, Mecklenburg! This family-friendly event features a scenic 5K race and a delightful one-mile Kids Fun Run, both set against the stunning backdrop of Occoneechee State Park, which borders the beautiful John Kerr Lake. The 5K course meanders through paved roads, rolling hills, and wooded areas, offering breathtaking lake views that will inspire runners of all ages.
Starting at 10 AM, the one-mile Kids Fun Run encourages children aged 13 and under to participate, with parental assistance and strollers welcome. Every young participant will receive a medal, while all runners will enjoy swag bags and refreshments. The 5K race begins at 11 AM, welcoming everyone to walk, run, hop, skip, or crawl—well-mannered, leashed pets and costumes are encouraged! Medals will be awarded to the top finishers, and a festive raffle for gift certificates and local merchandise will take place after the race. OCCONEECHEE STATE PARK ANNUAL TURKEY TROT
The 5K Race and one-mile kids fun run is conducted in scenic Occoneechee State Park which borders John Kerr Lake and the attractive lake front town of Clarksville VA... The 5K course consists of paved roads, rolling hills, and lake views as it winds through wooded areas of the park. Participants will receive swag bags and refreshments. A raffle for gift certificates and merchandise donated by local businesses will take place following the race. Participants and spectators can also enjoy cornhole games and try out Disc Golf baskets, offering a preview of the 18-hole Disc Golf Course currently under construction at the park. All proceeds directly benefit Occoneechee State Park by providing funding for projects such as an ADA compliant fishing dock, 18-hole Disc Golf Course, and many other park events, enhancements, and environmental projects. The 5K event is sponsored by the Friends of Occoneechee State Park, a volunteer nonprofit organization.
