Organiser's Description
Two Texas-sized "adaptive athlete only" opportunities in the same week, same location.
CAMP: It's geared to novice and intermediate levels, with an emphasis on first-timers who don't have to have prior triathlon experience or be proficient in all/any of the three disciplines.
This experience blends educational and practical sessions in a usable, dynamic manner that culminates with a real, sprint race experience. Attend camp = race included!

RACE: This is the first ever USAT sanctioned "adaptive athlete only" triathlon.
 Join us in making history at this inaugural event taking place deep in the heart of Austin, Texas.Â
Â
ATHLETES: must meet criteria set forth by USAT competition rules: "Participation in the Adaptive Triathlon Division is available to all athletes with a medically verified physical, visual, neurological, or intellectual impairment that limits one or more major life activities. Formal Paratriathlon classification into approved categories is not required for participation in the Adaptive Triathlon Division nor does such classification status prohibit an athlete from participating in the Adaptive Triathlon Division." Note: In rare circumstances, race management reserves the right to request an athlete to present medical documentation of their eligibility.

RACE DISTANCES: Swim - 400 yards Bike -11 miles Run - 5K     Race maps coming soon. Subject to change.Â

DIVISIONS:
ATD1Â Â Awards - Male & Female 3 deep in these sub-divisionsÂ
Visually Impaired - Includes athletes who are (a) less severe partially sighted (b) more severe partially sighted c) who are totally blind, from no light perception in either eye, to some light perception. One guide, who may be of a different gender, is mandatory throughout the competition. Must ride a tandem during the bike segment.
Wheelchair -Â Athletes must use a recumbent hand cycle on the bike course and a racing wheelchair on the run segment.
Ambulatory -Â In both bike and run segments, the athlete may use approved prosthesis or other supportive devices.
ATD2 Â Awards - Junior (16-19 year old) Male & Female overall + Adult Male & Female overall
Eligible include those with medically verified intellectual impairment including, but not limited to, Down’s Syndrome, autism, etc.
ATD3 Â Awards - Junior (16-19 year old) Male & Female overall + Adult Male & Female overall
Those eligible include but are not limited to those athletes with medically verified conditions such as TBI/PTSD, chronic diseases, congenital conditions, neurological conditions, etc.
ATD4
For athletes who race with another athlete who pulls, pushes, or propels the athlete through the race course.Â

Adaptive Triathlon Temporary Mobility Impairment (ATTMI)Â Â Â Â
This division is a participatory category that allows athletes with some form of medically verified, significant, and temporary injury that would require accommodations for participation in multisport events. These athlete’s results are not eligible for rankings or awards.Â
