The 2024 Olmsted Spirit Race Series

Welcome to our second year of the Olmsted Spirit Race Series!  Last year was a great year where we saw growth in all four of our events and a very tight battle between our top two female and male runners!
  We hope for the same in 2024!  We are also excited to be adding a fifth race into our Series, the 15th Annual Fat Little Buddies 5k that will take place on Saturday, June 15,  2024!
 
*** We are also very excited to announce the addition of our first annual Olmsted Spirit Youth Series Championship! ***
At all of our races we have always had our very fun kids fun runs!  After the success of our first Adult Series Championship in 2023, we have decided to make the youth fun runs more competitive too!  The Youth Series will be for ages 13 and under with two divisions.  Kids 10 and Under Will be The Blue Division and Kids 11-13 will be The Gold Division!  The overall Female and Male from each division will earn a $200 Gift Certificate to Second Sole Lakewood and Series Championship Trophy!  Each Race in the Youth Series will be a 400 meter run!

***Participants who sign up for the Race Series Will Receive The Following:
A Series Soft Style Crew Neck
A Special custom Race Series Medal (will be available at the Post-Race Series Party Celebration in March) 
No waiting in long lines for your packet!  We will have a designated day and/or time for those who are signed up for our complete Series to come pick up their race packets!

The 26th Annual Olmsted Spirit 5k Run/Walk - Sunday, May 5, 2024 (Timed 5k Run/Walk, Timed 1 Mile Run, Untimed 2 Mile Walk, Kids Fun Run - 400 and 100 meter options)
The 15th Annual Fat Little Buddies 5k Run/Walk - Saturday, June 15th, 2024 (Timed 5k Run, 1 Mile Untimed Walk, Kids Fun Run)
The 3rd Annual Olmsted Red2Blue Station Run - Sunday, July 7, 2024 (Timed 5k Run/Walk, 1-Mile Untimed Free Run/Walk, Kids Fun Run)
The 3rd Annual Olmsted Spooky Spirit Run - Sunday, October 13, 2024 (1 and 2-mile timed Run, 2-mile Untimed Walk, Kids Costume Fun Run - 400 and 100 meter options)
The 6th Annual Olmsted Ugly Sweater Run - Sunday, December 8, 2024 (Timed 1-Mile Run, 1-Mile Walk, Kids Reindeer Rush - 400 and 100 meter options)
Participants who run in at least three of the five events will qualify and be entered into the Championship Series Scoring.  Overall winners and Age Group winners of the Race Series will be recognized at our Post Race Series Participant Only Holiday Party in March! 
 
OLMSTED SPIRIT RACE SERIES SCORING:
 
We will use a point system based on results from each race.  The Top Overall and Age Group Winners will receive points at each of the five events.  
The Top Female/Male runners will only earn one award (i.e. an individual can win the overall category or age group, but not both in the following):

* Top F/M in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

1ST - 20 Pts, 2ND - 18 Pts, 3RD - 16 Pts, 4TH - 14 Pts, 5TH - 12 Pts, 6TH - 10 Pts, 7TH - 8 Pts, 8TH - 6 Pts, 9TH - 4 Pts, 10TH - 2 Pts
TOP 10 F/M IN EACH AGE GROUP (each race):
1ST - 10 Pts, 2ND - 8 Pts, 3RD - 7 PTs, 4TH - 6 Pts, 5TH - 5 Pts, 6TH - 4 Pts, 7TH - 3 Pts, 8TH - 2 Pts, 9TH - 1 Pt, 10TH - 1 Pt
***In the event of a tie:
1) Winner will be determined by who has won the most often
2) Greater number of events completed
3) The person who won/placed higher in the Olmsted Spirit 5k
***FOR PEOPLE WHO SIGN UP FOR THE COMPLETE RACE SERIES AND ENTER THE RACE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE SUNDAY, MAY 5 YOU WILL RECEIVE A 25 POINT BONUS TO YOUR FINAL SCORE AFTER QUALIFYING AND RUNNING IN YOUR THIRD RACE!

Our 2024 Race Series Charity Beneficiaries (we have decided to narrow down to four funds/agencies in 2024 because we will also focus on supporting and including our community of Olmsted local businesses.  We often ask so much of our local businesses to donate/sponsor our events, we want to make sure we support and give back to them as well!) :
 
The Olmsted Spirit Scholarship and Community Fund - The Original Fund and the purpose to why the Olmsted Spirit 5k was created.  We give back to Olmsted Falls High School graduates who show their "Olmsted Spirit" during their time as a Bulldog.  Being selfless, leading by example, and serving our great Olmsted communities is what we look for in a Spirit Scholarship Recipient.  
The Olmsted Community Center - Donna Winter and her team at the OCC do an incredible service to our great communities.  The programs they offer and the work they put into making these programs excel is not easy and we want to make sure we can help as much as possible to keep what they do possible! 
The Olmsted Falls and Township Police Beneficiary Fund - The assistance the Olmsted Township and Falls Police Departments give us during our events are incredible.  We truly could not run safely in the streets of the Township/Falls without their support!  Beyond the support they give us, they have a great presence in the Community and we want to help in a small way to make sure they know how much they are appreciated!  
The Christians In Action Olmsted Community Food Pantry - The CIA Food Pantry serves over 150 families in the Olmsted Communities.  The people who run the Pantry are incredible as they often give their time serving the community at other events as well.  They cannot do what they do without the support of our Community, so we make sure to do what we can to help them!

If your schedule throughout the year does not allow you the option to be able to commit and sign up for the complete series, there will still be individual registration sites for each of our five races that you can use to sign up for the races you can commit to!    - (i.e. Olmsted Spirit 5k, Fat Little Buddies 5k, Red2Blue Station 5k, Spooky 2-Mile Trail Race, Ugly Sweater 1-Mile Run)

All Kid Runs will be $26 starting January 1, 2024 (this year we are giving everyone a quality soft style shirt included in their registration price!).  The price of each kids run will increase $4 about a week prior to each event, respectively.  
 
***IMPORTANT - Please note if you have a child Ages 13 and Under who sign up for the "Adult" races, they can also compete in our new Youth Series Championship or just run the youth races for fun.  The Youth events are included in the adult package if your child is 13 and Under!  A question in your registration will ask you if your child will be participating in the youth events!**** 
***We created a handful of special Series Pass Postcards we are handing out to certain fundraising events that have a raffle or to select overall winners in our races.  The Series Pass includes free registration to each event in our series.  However, it does not include our Race Series Crew Neck that is included in registration for those who pay.  The reason for this is their a cost to the crew neck sweaters that would cause us to lose a lot of money if we handed them out to free to the winners of these passes.  If you win one of these passes and would like to purchase a crew neck, the cost is $40.  If you have any questions about this, please email us!
