Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, making events like this crucial in providing financial assistance and programs that help families navigate the challenges of treatment and recovery.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in various race distances, allowing runners of all levels to contribute to this noble cause. While fundraising is not required for participation, those who join are encouraged to create or join fundraising teams to maximize their impact. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of these brave children and their families. Come together to support a future where childhood cancer is no longer a threat!

CHILDREN'S CANCER NETWORK'S RUN TO FIGHT CHILDREN'S CANCER
EVERY DAY, 43 CHILDREN ARE DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER IN THE UNITED STATES. CHILDHOOD CANCER IS BOTH A LIFE-THREATENING AND LIFE-CHANGING DIAGNOSIS. BASED ON THE TYPE OF CANCER, TREATMENT MAY LAST FROM MONTHS TO YEARS. FOLLOWING TREATMENT, TWO-THIRDS OF THESE CHILDREN WILL SUFFER LONG-TERM SIDE EFFECTS AS A RESULT OF THEIR TREATMENT. THE AVERAGE COST OF A STAY IN A HOSPITAL FOR A CHILD WITH CANCER IS A STAGGERING $40,000 PER STAY AND MOST FAMILIES SPEND AN ADDITIONAL $10,000 ANNUALLY IN NON-MEDICAL COSTS INCLUDING GAS, PARKING, AND ADDITIONAL CHILDCARE.
FUNDRAISING
ALTHOUGH NOT REQUIRED FOR EVENT PARTICIPATION, THE HOPE IS THAT THOSE THAT JOIN THE RUN TO FIGHT FAMILY THROUGH EVENT PARTICIPATION AND VOLUNTEERING WILL BE MOVED TO JOIN THE FUNDRAISING EFFORTS.

CLOSEDThe Cancer Hero Walk is a jog or walk around the small lake within Mesa Riverview Park with the start line and finish line within the RTF Festival Area. Our cancer-fighting superheroes and their families will march to the cheers of the crowd as we honor their bravery and remember those who came before them. Registration for this event is recommended so we can prepare adequate numbers of superhero gear for our heroes! If you and your family are participating in the Cancer Hero Walk only, there is no need to attend packet pick up as your superhero gear will be available on the day of the event. -
