Organiser's Description
2020-2021 RACE FOR EDUCATION EVENT DETAILS
This past year has been a year like no other and we have been blessed to offer both in-person and
virtual instruction all school year to our students. Our Race for Education fundraiser, which is typically
our largest school fundraiser, will be a little different this year. To streamline two fundraisers, Race for
Education as well as the annual HASA 5K, we are hosting both events as one overall event to
support St. Joseph School [https://www.stjoeschool.org/].
In recent years, Race for Education supported many new initiatives on the school campus including
building the new playground, creating a Multimedia Center, and upgrading the security system on
campus. THIS YEAR, WE ARE EXCITED TO BEGIN RAISING MONEY TO RENOVATE OUR SCHOOL GYMNASIUM.
WHAT IS RACE FOR EDUCATION?
This has been a long-standing tradition at SJS and each year it is one of our biggest fundraisers.
Students raise money for the school while running laps on campus. This year all of the proceeds will
go towards renovating the gymnasium.
WHO?
We are asking that ALL students register to join the race! Each child will be given a waiver code for a
free race entry. Once registered, students will receive a link to share via email on social media with
friends and family to collect donations for their childs team. Each student will need to create a
registration page as it will assist with prizes.
PARENTS - VIRTUALLY JOIN THE RACE!
Unfortunately, no parent volunteers can help this year, but you can join the 5K race virtually for a
great cause. During the time period of May 14-May 23, parents can run the virtual 5K or the Mile Run
and the registration fee is donated back to SJS. Please keep an eye out for pre-race email which will
include how to report your results, share photos, etc.
WHERE?
Students will participate in the fun run around the pathway surrounding the new cemetery on their
selected day during their PE class.
WHEN?
PreK through 3rd grades will run on Monday, May 17 and 4th through 8th grades will run on Tuesday,
May 18. A rain date will be announced if needed.
WHY DONATE?
This event is a way for friends and family to play a part in your childs Catholic education. SJS has
successfully offered in-person learning since August. Now is the time to show how much you have
appreciated SJS and all that this school community continues to offer.
WHATS IN IT FOR YOU?
Every student that creates a registration page will be eligible for an out of uniform day on
Friday, May 21.
Any student that collects over $250 in donations will be added to a drawing to win a prize.
Any student that collects over $500 in donations will be added to a drawing to win a prize.
Any student that collects over $1,000 will be added to a drawing to win a prize.
