Join us for the exciting second annual SLA AnyWay 5k, taking place from May 4th to May 11th, 2025, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia! This event is a fantastic opportunity for both the SLA community and running enthusiasts to come together in support of a great cause. Originally started as a virtual race in 2021 by SLA alumni Ethan Chen, the AnyWay 5k has evolved into a hybrid event featuring both an in-person race along the scenic Schuylkill River Trail and a virtual option that can be completed anywhere you choose.
Participants can run at their own pace, with the virtual race window open from April 17th to April 23rd, allowing you the flexibility to accumulate 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) however you like. Whether you're joining us in person on April 23rd or participating virtually, your registration and donations will directly benefit the SLA Home and School, reinforcing our commitment to the SLA community. Welcome to the second annual SLA AnyWay 5k! Started as a virtual race in 2021 by SLA alumni Ethan Chen, the AnyWay 5k was a way to help spread his passion for running with the SLA community. We are continuing his legacy by holding an in person 5k in addition to the virtual event!
No matter if you are part of or outside of the SLA community, everyone is welcome to join in on our race. All registrations, donations, and profits made from this race will directly be given to SLA Home and School to support the SLA community and this race. We would like to thank Braskem for sponsoring this event and making this all possible!
You can use any kind of tracking device for the virtual race. Apps like Strava and Runkeeper work well.
The deadline for ordering shirts is April 1st. The pickup date for shirts is Tuesday April 19th and Friday April 22nd, 3:15 - 4:30 pm, at 1482 Green St. (SLA@CC).
HOW THIS EVENT WORKS
This year's race will consist of an in person event and a virtual event.
The SLA Anyway 5k virtual race can take place anywhere and any time from April 17th-April 23rd. It is up to you as the participants to choose a time, a route, and methods to accumulate a distance of 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). You can do it all in one go or break it up over the week.
The in-person event will take place on April 23rd along the Schuylkill river trail. Arrive at 10:00 AM for check in, with the goal to start the race between 10:30 and 10:45 AM.
10:30 AM group runs/practices at 1 Boathouse Row (Lloyd Hall). Sunday 4/3, 4/10, and 4/17.
