Organiser's Description
The swim course and variable distances offer both experienced and inexperienced sea swimmers a sheltered yet challenging swim from Hampton Pier to Herne Bay's iconic 19th Century Pier.
The swim is about you and the sea, with 2022's first wave starting at 15:45.

Registration:
Registration will open at 14:00 and close at 15:20.
Swim Briefing:
All participants will need to attend an event briefing, virtually or on the day to point out key information and ensure participants understand the course. You will be notified in the pre-event information which briefing you need to attend, but the intention will be for the 3km swimmers to have their briefing first.
Swim Start:
There will be a few minutes for swimmers to acclimatise and warm up in the water before the air horn starts each swim distance.

- The event is about you and the sea, we don’t provide a medal, t-shirt or goody bag but focus on the elements that our swimmers say they value the most. Your event fee pays for the event services and none of the often unnecessary extras, which means it’s better for the environment too.
Restrictions
Swimmers need to be aged at least 14 years of age on the 17th July 2022.
If the temperature of the water is 15°C or above, wetsuits are optional.
If you choose not to wear a wetsuit, you must use a tow-float for safety reasons.
If the water temperature is under 15°C, wetsuits are compulsory.
On the 17th July 2021 the water temperature was 16.9°C.
facilities
There is a beach shower near Herne Bay Pier, there are toilets inside the registration building and in the car park outside.
The Hat’s Hat’s coffee van (Hattie) will be onsite throughout the event, serving hot drinks and snacks.
We will provide a bag drop that will be staffed throughout the event. However, we would request that any real valuables are not brought to the event.
British Triathlon Federation - Public liability insurance
You are required to have public liability insurance for this event, this is included in your entry - please ensure you complete your BTF membership details to receive the affiliated discount of £3 as this is included in your BTF membership.
